I really do think that a videogame franchise ought to have at least one highly popular release under its belt before it has the nerve to start offering special editions. Doing one for the first game in a series always looks presumptuous to me. Nevertheless, Dead Space is getting one ... and it'll set you back $150.
Unlike most "limited editions," one thing that can be said for this is that it is actually limited. Apparently, only 1,000 are being made, so it will be incredibly hard to get your hands on a copy. If you have both the cash and the luck to snag it though, here's what you get:
- Special Ultra Limited Edition packaging
- Dead Space Downfall Animated Movie (DVD)
- Bonus content DVD
- Exclusive lithograph art
- 97-page Dead Space art book written and illustrated by the development team
- 160-page Graphic novel
- Ishimura crew patch
That's quite a haul. Since you're here, be sure to check out Hamza's hands-on with the game, as well as my first Jimpressions of EA's hot looking sci-fi title. Don't forget to check out the Destructoid review of Dead Space: Downfall either.
Clicking any of those links will not help you get your hands on the limited edition though.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
160-page!
:O
I will find scans thank you very much, as hpv said this doesn't seem to warrant the price.
yeah toe for 150 bones
$150? That's WAY too pricey for what they're bundling.
Please?
I'll buy one. Maybe two.
I'm hearing ya but over here the $150 price tag will most likely mean ATLEAST £100, which would be ridiculous. I bet the casing is great for this though....
What credit crunch?
Is that its official name. :)
This is Canada too right?
Also, damn Hito for lowering my expectations on the movie - I wasn't aware there was a Blu-ray version, but now I wish they had included that version instead.
works like a charm
I ALWAYS buy the limited editions to games, but screw $150.
