I knew that in Dead Space Extraction I'd get to shoot a bunch of ugly monsters, but what's with all of this talking nonsense? According to the Wii-title's senior designer John Calhoun, Extraction is not all about blasting baddies to nasty, gooey bits.

"We actually have five times more dialogue than the original Dead Space," he says in the latest video developer diary for the title. "This is a story driven game."

I've been on the fence about Extraction for awhile, trying really hard to get off of the "on rails" things. I was still interested in playing it, because I'm putting trust in Visceral that it'll be able to create a compelling point-and-shoot experience on the Wii. Well, that and I just like shooting the sh*t out of monsters.

But I have to admit that after watching this new video, I'm a bit more excited about the game and what looks like a pretty compelling narrative. Hey, if hell freezes over and crushing the skulls of ghouls with my gun gets old, at least there might be something to keep me playing.

Dead Space Extraction hits stores on September 29.

The first game had dialogue outside of the beginning and end?

Last I checked, the lack of dialogue increased the tension in a horror environment. Great work guys!

If they aren't rehashing the entire story from DS1, fine. Give us a little more insight into the world, what happened, etc.

So there's going to be more nagging from Token Irritating Surviving Chick to do all the work while she's living it up in the control room?

I'll send her a baby necromorph with love. I'll 'lurker' to death...

I can't stop laughing at the "Shake the Wii remote" header. That looks unintended and yet it's funnier then every single "WAGGLE" joke I've seen on this site.

The dialogue was possibly the worst part of Dead Space.

I remember sitting there thinking people should just STFU so I could get on with the game. Well, maybe they'll improve the script in the second game... maybe.

Wow! Five times more people telling me to go somewhere and flick a switch?! I can barely contain my excitement.

What's up with all the negativity? I love how this is looking and the dialogue seems to fit nicely with the game. Dead Space was good too, really, I never minded the dialogue in that either.

I had a blast with this game at PAX. I thought it was better than RE: Darkside Chronicles, probably because this game is Steve Burnside free.
