Dead Space: Extraction gets its own comic, too photo

Comics. Comics. Comics. More specifically, comics based on games. We're up to our ears in the s**t. Spyborgs. Prince of Persia. Singularity. Mass Effect. Dante's Inferno. I have to be missing something. When does it end?

Well, not quite yet. Visceral Games and Image Comics has announced that they'll be teaming up to release a new comic based on the upcoming Wii-exclusive, Dead Space Extraction. Illustrated by Ben Templesmith and penned by Antony Johntson, the comic will present an alternate perspective on the game's story line. Something about colonists fighting off necromorphs; it's all very scary.

The one-off comic will hit shelves in September for $3.00, but those who attend San Diego Comic-Con can pick up a limited edition version of the book with a special cover for $2.00. Not in to the comic? Don't worry, there's plenty of other Dead Space merchandise you can pick up at EA's booth -- figures, iPhone skins, and art books. Bring your Isaac Clarke piggy bank.

Dude this is the sweetest time to be a comic/gamer junkie.

Look at all the game/comic spinoffs, damn!
BTW you're right Nick... *Caption* That can't end well.

@BS3 Owner:

I'll agree, it's neat for gamers/comic junkies. I think I'm just getting worn about because of being bombarded by these comic announcements. Not used to it!

Indeed it is sweet, though I can't help but feel many of these games don't need comic tie-ins. I mean, nothing needs a comic tie-in. InFamous was already most of the way there and had comic-style cutscenes, so that fit and I guess Dead Space works because of the lead in motion comic videos (and it's an excuse to look at Ben Templesmith's artwork), but Spyborgs and Singularity? Really? Pushing it a little, I think.

I'm looking forward to this! I really liked the previous Dead Space comics, and Ben Templesmith's art is always awesome.

Don't forget the God of War comic. And novel.

The God of War novel (this coming from the biggest God of War geek on this planet or otherwise) sounds like a terrible idea, but the comic could be... kind of cool. The cut scenes are stylized sort of like a comic anyway, so as long as the writing's up to snuff...

To be fair, Dead Space starting making comic tie-ins before the craze. [See: The Dead Space prequel comic drawn by Ben Templesmith and written by Antony Johnston.)
