Lately, Electronic Arts has been pretty candid about wanting to make its games online enabled in some capacity going forward. There seems to be some vocal resistance to this notion, but in the case of Dead Space 2, apparently the majority of players were all about social interaction.
Talking with GamerZines, Visceral Games executive producer Steve Papoutsis explains that "Multiplayer was the most requested feature for Dead Space 2. Numerous people wanted to be able to experience Dead Space with their friends after finishing the single player story."
He also dropped a couple of feel-good quotes, such as "One thing we wanted to address in the sequel was the feeling of Isaac being an errand boy, someone who simply took directions and blindly did what he was told" ... "he is not passively following orders instead he is actively seeking for answers or taking matters into his own hands."
And those dreaded PC controls for Dead Space you hated so much? "Our goal with the PC version was to improve the controls from the last game and I think we have done that." January is going to be a fun month indeed.

Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Also, I'd have preferred some coop rather than L4D style matches, but meh. Looks good enough.
______
What is the feature you would most like in Dead Space 2?
A. Multiplayer
B. Multiplayer
C. Multiplayer
D. Multiplayer
nothing beats hanging in a ledge, grabing people, falling and killing them.
not sure if dead space 2 needs a multiplayer. will see soon enough.
In addition to that, it should also implement a manipulation of in game voice chat, I.E. you can't communicate in specific areas or when you're signal is blocked/out of range with the other player. This would help heighten moments and maybe make for some incredibly fucking awesome co-op moments and epic puzzle-like boss fights.
But no, we're not getting this. All I can say is that it better not feel boring and tacked on. If I have fun, that's all that matters.
But hey, I've already got the PS3 Special Edition pre-ordered, so I'm getting more game than everyone else already. Should be an excellent game, can't wait.
I just wanna know where all these gamers are that want online multiplayer? Considering the only ppl in this coments section arnt too keen on the idea, Ild say its BS or the gamers who supposedly want it arnt Deadspace fans, more like your run of the mill COD or TF2 gamer who just arnt intrested in DS (This would explain EAs futile attempts to attract them with online modes)
Sometimes the majority just means all the idiots are on the same side, i believe this is one of those times, that said, unless the main campaign's quality is affected by the multiplayer focus i don't really care.
I suspect some marketing manipulation at work, but I also wonder if the polls EA ran on this ended up hitting a lot CoD/Halo frat fucks, who say they are all pumped up for multiplayer, when they have zero intention of following through on a purchase of DS2.
