Dead Space 2 revealed in next OPM? photo

It's with little shock that we'll eventually be telling you all about the sequel to Visceral Games' Dead Space. All signs point to "totally happening," with rumors of multiplayer that our own sources quietly confirmed to us months ago.

So when will we see it? If a teaser for next month's issue of Official PlayStation Magazine is anything to go by, it seems "next month." The magazine teases an "unannounced horror game," and uses a piece of artwork that has been discovered to be a piece of concept art (pictured above) from the original Dead Space

Seems likely, and we'll find out soon enough, as the magazine hits stands on December 22. It's possible we'll see hints of the game even sooner -- the Spike VGAs, which airs on December 12, promises to reveal nearly a dozen unannounced games. Could Dead Space 2 be among them?

On Kotaku there saying its gonna be previewed in The Official Playstation Mag. That would be great, since Im a subscriber to PTOM and not OXM.

Call me a baby or what not but i could not beat Dead Space. I can not play a scary game, it freaks me out way to much. But this game was so damn good that i got half way with it and to get me to play a horror game past the first level is has to be good. (Could not get past level 2 on fear) I'll get it, if not just to have someone beat it for me and me watching.

Not in the least. Dead Space was by far my favorite game last year, and this news makes
me very, very happy.

The Neogaf post that this story links to also says Official Playstation Magazine.

Maybe D-toid made a mistake? Or maybe it coming to both mags.

You all are correct, it's PlayStation Magazine. Brian Crecente is more handsome than I am, confirmed.

Great game. One of EA's best in my opinion. Would have kept it too if it had multiplayer. Heck, I'm gonna rent it tonight!

This is exciting news. I wonder if anyone has said if its going to be a prequel or a sequel?

I know Extraction was the "prequel" but I don't think that counts because Wii.

I'm going to totally ruin the atmosphere by being the first one to say that I really couldn't get into Dead Space. Was still miles better than Resi 5, but I don't know. It struck me as Doom 3 from third person, very predictable and CORRIDORS.

Gameplay was alright, but it just wasn't that scary either. I'll have to look into the second before putting down any cash.

No. In all honesty I love Dead Space... It's my second favorite survival horror game right behind Resident Evil 4. My fiancee loves it too! Lot's of people I know like Dead Space.

God I loved the original. It and Mirror's Edge were a double-dose of awesome new IP from out of nowhere from EA.

I have heard rumors that 2 will not be on PC, which would break my heart.

Decent, rentable, yet uninspired game gets sequel.

Hope the characters aren't flat, the first 8 levels aren't the exact same, and all of the weapons/enemies aren't identical!

Dead Space is one of my favorite games for it's genre, it's story and the quality of the experience, overall. I _cannot_ wait for Dead Space 2!!!

Dead Space needs more.
Games, Comics, Movies... just more.

A sequel would be welcome. VERY welcome.

It seems like a lot of people in this thread are agreeing with me, so I'm going to have to put it to the podtoid guys. I know this is way way after the fact, but I'd be interested in you guys elaborating on your opinions of this game. you know....if any of you even read this thread.

I loved Dead Space. Probably my favorite horror game ever. Took everything RE4 did for the genre and made it better. I eagerly await the second one.

I actually liked the Wii game better. Sure it was on rails but at least it was far more interesting a story and characters. However neither of the Dead Space games were scary. If Americans want to know how to make a scary video game they should look at Fatal Frame 2.

P.S. Boss battles are ghey.

Personally, I thought Fatal Frame II was the least scary of all the Fatal Frame games. The first one has much more scare factor.

I will be pre-ordering this as soon as I can.

Dead Space was pretty much GOTY in my books last year, well that along with Metal Gear but you get my drift.

It was a good game, it had it's faults... mainly that they threw a ton of crap monsters at you and you rarely every saw a strong monster outside of a cutscene. They barely even had any boss fights, more like one real use of zero gravity and the rest was an arcade game and the easiest enemy in the entire game was the final boss. That was laughable, but it had its good atmosphere.
