Maybe I'm just spoiled, being so accustomed as I am to current-gen graphics, but this above video seems almost embarrassing when compared to the original Dead Rising on the Xbox 360. It doesn't look very good at all.
As aware as I am of the Wii's technological failings, there's no reason that the game should look this bad. Dynasty Warriors games on the PlayStation 2 could handle far more enemies on screen with better graphics than that. There's no way Capcom couldn't make this shopping mall look at least a little more lively, pardon the expression. Perhaps Capcom is still adding to the game, but with so few zombies, the game looks incredibly dull.
Capcom's support of the Wii is admirable, but there are certain ports that probably should not happen, despite how many Wii owners whine that they're being left out. Games like Dead Rising weren't designed with the Wii in mind, and shouldn't be thoroughly gutted just so they can fit there. Still, it'll probably sell well to the idiot crowd that doesn't know any better.

Meet the rest of the team
Yet again more developers being lazy and producing half assed crap for the wii.
This looks like RE1 playstation graphics. RE4 on the gamecube look miles better than this shit.
Why do so many developers keep making and getting away with such shit?
Well I think you're being a little unfair. The video isn't exactly representative of the finished article. It may well end up like this but they are still working on it and the video is pretty obviously just an early demo of the engine running on the Wii. That it is called 'weapons clip' makes it pretty obvious the only thing they were interested in showing is how the weapons work with the Wii controls.
Even though I already played this game on the 360 and loved it, that video just made me a hell of a lot less excited for Dead Rising 2 for some reason.
Hahahaha the mall looks empty! I remember someone (from Capcom i think) saying that there will be 100's of zombies on screen. Clearly not happening :-P.
This has gotta be a joke. I didn't see more than 5-6 zombies on screen at once and the animations looked horrible. If this is the finished build then...yuck.
Let's hope that's REALLY fucking early. The graphics were bad, but the animation/clipping/shit like that was HORRIBLE.
I somewhat enjoyed Dead Rising, however my inability to read the text due to my SDTV killed a lot of enjoyment. I was hoping this would be the saving grace.
I looks like a DS game, i love my wii, and im aware of its limitations, but this just seems ridiculous, i hope they improve the graphics a lot. I dont expect to see 100 zombies on screen (who are we kidding with that), but i hope the ones we have look good.
They keep saying "we're aiming for 100 zombies"...but we've yet to see it. This is coming out, supposedly, in the fourth quarter for Japan. You'd think they'd be able to squeeze in a few more zombies for these test clips.
As others have said, not sure if this was the right port. Maybe it'll give the Wii-only owners something to play, but I'll probably pass, even if they add new cases and features.
Though, I am a little curious about the mission time. I read that they were including time limits for the cases, like the 360 version, but there would be no time limits in between them? I'm guessing that you can take the cases whenever you want, so you don't have to decide on whether to make it back to the security room for the next case or attempt to rescue a survivor.
I don't think the graphics look too bad for an early build of the game. If you look, you can see that whoever is playing is set to level 50, so it probably is just an early vid showing off how the engine works. The main thing I have to agree with others on though is the number of zombies. It just looks...boring...as it is. So hopefully, like others said, too, this really IS just an early build, and they plan on filling the screen up. Being able to blast away at "hordes" of zombies RE4 style would be great. :-)
I think the 100 zombies remark in fact means there will be a total of 100 zombies in the game. Also, it's not set in a mall any longer, but in a Kwik-E-Mart.
Clearly Capcom decided to focus more on the exploitation of the consumer in this version, in game and out of game. Obviously they are just trying to be more true to the themes of the source material.
Results like these are partially due to Nintendo's own preaching. Remember, they encouraged developers to reuse their Gamecube engines and assets (RE4 and Zelda/Paper Mario/Metroid Prime 3/et all) to lower their development costs.
Like Nintenod has shown, reusing Gamecube engines (Mario Kart Wii) nets a great profit and a low development cost on Wii games.
Nintendo and consumers asked for this guys, and they got it.
eh.... Im pretty sure if dynasty warriors took place in a mall with that much geometry it'd prolly look worse....
i mean yea prolly all they did was take the character models and hack away poly's and wash out textures tll the cows came home but that shouldnt eman the gameplay wont be intact.... right?
Visually, I didn't think it was TOO bad, but it definitely wasn't any RE4.
What's bugging me is the fact that there were almost NO zombies on the screen. I know the Wii can't do what the 360 can, but it can sure as hell have more than 3 guys in the game at once.
Honestly, the graphics weren't bad enough to draw my attention away from the gameplay itself, so I'm not gonna fault it for that.
As for the low amount of zombies, I'm gonna give Capcom the benefit of the doubt for once, it seems like a working model still so who knows what might change? There weren't THAT few zombies anyway, there were points in the game where Paradise Plaza was filled with a similar amount.
Of course, that's probably why they didn't show off the maintenence tunnel...
Even if they have to turn the zombies into flat 2D sprites like the origonal DOOM just to get a hundred/thousand plus zombies on the screen, then they should do it.
The Wii though should be able to handle it just fine with a little AI dumbing down or even the EXACT SAME lack of polygon count. Wich would justify the horrible lack of effort there.
Though the Wii doesn't seem to be able to do all the special effects that make everything look nicer than it really is.
They can do better, but they don't want to.
I've lost my interest in this.
I'll see how it does in a review after its out.
Theres better looking things to waste my money on for my Wii gaming fix.

Really? Dynasty Warriors? Dynasty Warriors was never much of a visually impressive game, especially considering its vast flat terrains. This really doesn't look that bad. Only major visual differences are lower quality textures and a softer look. It's pretty much par for the course for last generation titles that weren't made by Square, Konami, or Tecmo. As has already been said, the 360 version really didn't look that great to begin with, so it isn't much of a step down.
Having said that, I totally agree that the lack of zombies makes it look boring. If they can ramp up the zombie count, I'll get it. Doesn't even have to be as populated as the 360 version, but it certainly has to rise exponentially.

btw, House of the Dead:OVERKILL trailer looks good, I hope it plays well.
Also looks fine to me.
Meh... The only mildly interesting thing in that vid was the killer poodle. >.>;
Hurm.

I like the idea of aiming a shotgun though.

@ Heretic
And you sir are the reason I feel an uncontrolable rage take over my body, everytime I read pretentious pricks like you stating there opinion.
Where did I say I was buying it? ;)
Did DR on the 360 have zombie poodles? I lold when I saw it.

Dunno if you're being sarcastic or just dumb but there is definitely a difference here shown in above pictures i posted.
