Dead Rising making its way to PCs? photo

According to UK-based gaming site PlayTM, Capcom's games distributor in Italy has let slip that that the highly-stressful, zombie-slaughtering action of Dead Rising is coming to the PC. PlayTM is reporting that Capcom UK have refused to comment, which means -- if history has taught us anything -- that it's highly likely.

An Xbox 360 "exclusive," Dead Rising was definitely the straw that broke the undead camel's back for many gamers who purchased Microsoft's console simply to massacre hordes of zombies with a katana. While we eagerly anticipate the oft-rumored yet unannounced sequel, at least PC gamers may have something to look forward to in the near future.

The move wouldn't be a huge surprise, either -- Capcom have recently stepped up PC support, having already ported over Lost Planet, and are soon to release Devil May Cry 4. And anything involving zombies (other than them eating your family) is good news, right?

[Thanks Jonathan!]

I'd much rather they spent their time developing a sequel without the hideous gaping flaws of the original. Considering it was basically a game of dawn of the dead, it should have been a hell of a lot more fun than it was.

your reference to killing zombies with a katana makes me sad that oneechanbara vortex still hasn't been released outside of Japan.

I suppose I should post something relevant. I liked dead rising too, but I never made it through the story yet. I still have hope for the stupid co-op patch rumor from a while back.

yes, I know that I hope for things that will never happen.

Actually, I'm pretty sure zombies trying to eat my family would be pretty awesome too.

But until that happens, I'll look forward to putting Dead Rising on my PC. :D

Let's hope this isn't as bad as so many millions of other Japanese PC ports.

"Yeah, so, like, I think all of the game files are here and it looks something like the console version when you put it on the screen. I think it freezes at one point midway through, but hey, it runs, right?

Oh yeah, to shoot you have to press all the mouse buttons at once."

Capcom can't port to the PC to save it's life. The RE4 port was barely playable, Lost Planet was a chore to play. They simply don't take the proper time to implement proper mouse support nor do they do much optimizing when it comes to the renderer performance.

Im very disappointed in myself for not ever finishing this on 360, due to work and the over abundance of games that I buy/play.

Im a sad panda

All I could suggest for Capcom is to go ahead with this, and outsource it the same way they did with Bionic Commando. Only this way will PC versions get the attention they deserve.

Either way, its good Capcom are still giving attention to the PC, where many don't bother.

I still need to buy this game. Wasn't there some rumor about a co-op patch?

YES PLZ. This is one of the few things I REALLY want a 360 for. But if it comes out for PC... damn Capcom is just so fucking awesome. Considering Dead Rising was the basis for their current 360/PS3/PC engine, this makes sense too.

It's too bad Capcom PC ports have been consistently terrible, or I would be highly excited for this.

They don't even bother to change the UI to fit the PC keyboard. I'm playing Lost Planet (which is terribly unoptimized, btw) and it's telling me to use the buttons found on the 360 controller.

Don't even get me started on Resident Evil 4.

I'd like to be happy that such a neat game is coming to the PC, but considering Capcom's track record so far, I remain skeptical that it will even be worth 20 bucks.

I don't think anything can possibly be as bad as the DMC3/RE4 ports. Using compressed videos of the in-game cutscenes from the PS2 game? I blame Ubisoft for that shit though. If this runs decently, I can't imagine how it could be BAD to play on PC though. Mainly because unlike RE4/DMC3, I have no other way to play this, so I need it bad ;_;

Only if someone other than Ubisoft and/or anyone at all related to the RE4 PC port don't touch it. RE4's PC port made it the worst game evar. Cold Fear was a better game. I had a lot of fun with that PC Port, which felt like a combination of Dino Crisis 2 and RE4. The only sour points about it at all are the lack of a map and worthwhile ending.
