Capcom held a "Save the Zombie" event in Tokyo today to promote Dead Rising 2. In addition to a screening of the upcoming, B-movie film based on the games -- complete with exclusive alternate ending which will only be available as a DVD special feature -- new information regarding the Xbox 360-exclusive downloadable title Dead Rising 2: Case Zero.
Set three years before the events of Dead Rising 2, Case Zero features Chuck Greene and his daughter trapped in Fortune City with 12 hours to find some Zombrex before the little girl turns. Inafune revealed that Case Zero's save data will be carried over into Dead Rising 2, allowing you to keep any experience rewards earned.
Case Zero still doesn't have a release date, but it shouldn't be long now. Inafune expects it to release in Japan a month before Dead Rising 2 but he would not pin down anything more specific. Since it's acting as the Dead Rising 2 demo, you will be able to play a portion of Case Zero for free but have to cough up some cash to finish the job.
I'm down, especially if it means carrying stats over. Hell, I would have bought this anyway but it's nice to know that I can get a head start on being a badass that fears no zombie.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
He rescues little girls.
That seems like a confusing thing to market. Depending on how the multiplayer turns out this may be a deciding factor in which system I buy Dead Rising 2 on.
Dont matter as I only have a 360 so Im shiny with this and will download the whole thing the second it is on Live.
@ GoodguyA - Nope, no Frank West in this, though I am praying for a cameo (even if its a brief mention in the background).
@ Conrad Zimmerman - Wasnt there talk of a DR cameo a while back when this was first anonunced or has that idea been dropped?
BRING ON THE LUMBERING HORDES!
I'm not saying that there's a huge difference. I'm just wondering what the reasoning behind the decision is.
OH MY GOD CAPCOM BOUGHT THE FRANCHISE FROM SEGA OH GOD WHAT jk
Anyway, lol @ ps3 owners complaining about this. Case Zero is meant to bridge the gap between DR1 and 2, why do you need to bridge the gap for something you haven't played?
