Dead Rising 2 Off The Record DLC packs out now photo

Dead Rising 2 Off The Record was only released a couple of weeks ago but the first batch of DLC for the game have now been released. If you thought Dead Rising 2 Off The Record upped the manliness stakes by replacing Chuck Greene with Frank West, then you ain't seen nothing yet.

The first DLC pack is the Fire Fighter Skill (160MSP/£1.69) pack which gives Frank some welcome perks including a speed boost when carrying or assisting survivors, immunity to fire as well as the ability to kick in doors. But best of all, Frank now comes complete with a manly mustache! Well, I mean it is Movember after all.

The second pack is a much more robust affair entitled the Gamebreaker pack (400MSP/£3.99), which as it's name implies, gives you access to a wide range of boots that will surely make Dead Rising 2 Off The Record a lot easier. Super speed, dumb zombies and even God mode are all included. I imagine this is mainly for those who want to have some crazy fun in the big zombie fun box. I think I'd prefer a "keys of the city"-esque element to Dead Rising to be included in the game and not some (admittedly cheap) DLC but what do you guys think? Fancy shelling out a little cash to have some more fun in Fortune City?

Chuck was more of a man than Frank was - Chuck was handy with tools, rode a motorcycle, and took care of his family. Frank covered wars? Where's the proof! We see Chuck TCB in Dead Rising 2.

If I had an Ironic picture to post that said "You see it was in the game all along I just wanted some extra cash so you could have it." I would but I currently am lacking in such a picture.

Yeah, this is kind of ridiculous. They sold these costumes in the first version, now they come out with a second version and still have the gall to sell even more costumes. Also these probably take zero effort, they probably could have included these on the disk, but delayed them.

I remember when cheat codes were left in the game for players to find, hidden away by a password or button combination.

Now Capcom expects you to pay five dollars for it, and it's not even available for the first version of the game.

When did they start sucking so much?

This is the kind of dlc that people were warning was going to happen 5 or so years ago. I know it's more than capcom doing this but man it's sad this is business as usual now.

I agree with the comments but at the same time no one is forced to buy it and if they keep pushing this sort of shit its because its probably selling and generating profit. Ppl actualy bought that shit of the horse in elder scrolls too, years ago, cmon

Man, now I'm getting all nostalgic for the days when games actually still had cheat codes. Still, Capcom without the mindfucking audacity is just not the real Capcom.

@JackBravo I agree but we can still voice our opinions, because it has some merit doesn't give it the full right of being right, sometimes we need to voice that we don't want to be exploited to prevent further exploit whether people are buying it or not is mute. Because if we voice enough discontent for the content eventually other people may agree, and sway that majority that we disagreed with in the first place.

It's like saying the civil rights movement never should have stood up for their rights they deserved because other people said they didn't deserve it. I know it's an extreme example but I feel like certain companies have taken DLC to an extreme negative, versus the positive it was supposed to being the industry.

So...in another 6months we'll have Dead Rising 2: Off The Record: Complete?

Cause I'll probably wait for that to take a return trip to Fortune City.

You mean I can buy cheat codes instead of going through all that tiresome button combos that yield cheats for free?

GREAT

The second DLC pack would have been a cheat code last generation. I am certain that is a disc unlock too.

Buy a cheat!!

Capcom is the absolutely worst.

Makes one wish DLC never existed that way that content would go in the game already, rather than purposely cut out to sale later.

Strange. I'm the biggest fan of this franchise that I know, yet I HATED how they recycled so many storyline assets in OTR. But for some reason, I'm okay with this. I'm gettin senile in my old age....

GIT OFF MY LAWN!!!

Sorry Capcom, have to say it. This game was NOT worth the money for anyone who has already experienced DR2 except the true fans. Off The Record should have been DLC, so these latest packs truly are DLC for DLC.

If this doesn't prove that Capcom is out of its gourd by making this game at all, let alone selling these cheats that could have been easily included in a menu somewhere in the game (specially if they were to make them JUST for sandbox), then I don't know what will.

@tekbunny

Ending well?

lol, you don't think this isn't going to carry over -or go on to be WORSE- in the next one? I mean, this is what happens when we all shrug and go meh, just to let the companies do this crap and not be told -directly- how much we don't like it.

@Mrdraven

I won't say I'm a bigger fan (pissing matches get people no where), but I'm a big fan as well, and your not the only one pissed about those things, but it does seem weird you'd stop at this stuff, lol.

"Sorry Capcom, have to say it. This game was NOT worth the money for anyone who has already experienced DR2 except the true fans. Off The Record should have been DLC, so these latest packs truly are DLC for DLC."

Exactly this -and its not really even worth the money for the true fans either. Its a what-if that'll only be mentioned in the next -main- DR game if -I assume- Blue Castle decides that suddenly it needs to be made into a canonical thing. Since Capcom seems willing to let them do whatever they want and completely over-saturate the brand, I can't really help but think its going to happen, but I'd love to be wrong.
