For street fighter I already have both 4 and SSF4 on ps3 and 360.
I'd love to play it on 3DS but it's just more of the same basically.
Now if I do decide to get one at launch it'll be DOA even though I suck at it.

You're lucky that it's 40$, for us Europeans it's 45... Euros. Damn it, and we're also screwed on Solatorobo it seems.

I don't know how the hell anyone can think this is good. The full word is that these costumes will be available once and only once. This is a real dick move when you consider that ome of them (Ayane's and Tina's especially) have been in the DOA games since the begining, if people miss those they'll be pissed. Hell, Helena's opera dress has been requested constantly since DOA2. If people miss out on that there'll be a small meltdown.
What's worse is that this is a game with online multiplayer. That means that everyone needs to have the same data available. That means that these costumes either have to be a forced download even if you missed the day they were available, or they're already on the cartridge.
So yay, extremely limited download window and forced data/on the disc DLC. Nice that it's free, bullshit that it's core stuff that's being put out in such a stupid way.
That's not even the real story though. The mian thing that came out of the new info is that the previous boss characters as well as Kasumi's clone will be playable. That basically means online is goign to be a waste of time. Genra is stupidly overpowerd; double-sided lightsabre thing and the only character with projectivles (sweeping laser and rapid-fire fireballs at all heights) plus an invincible defense move. To balance him they'd have to take out literally every move he has, making it pointless him even being there. What's even worse is alpha-152 being playable. Kasumi's clone is bad enough, she's touted as being exactly like Kasumi only faster. Alpha-152 is even worse, she's like Kasumi with priority over every move in the game, an evade that works on any move even mid-combo and can whip off 5/6ths of your health in one combo. Again, the only way they coudl balance her would be to gimp everything that makes her her, which in turn makes her pointless (she'd pretty much have to just be an alternative costume for Kasumi).
DOA's my big system-seller. In fact it's also a TV-seller for me. It's the main reason I intended to pick up a 3DS. Now, I'm not so sure. The balance is basically guaranteed to be fucked and they're all but confirmed to be holding back a considerable amount of on-the-disc content purely for the sake of day one sales which only is o importance to the hardcore fans who'd probably be buying it day one anyway; so they're being dicks for no reason.
Combined with DW7 holding back character's unique weapons as DLC, I'm losing a lot of my love for Tecmo Koei, previously my favourite publisher.

I like this way of handling DLC, add value to the game not take it from it and sell as extras later, at least it's a good start for the 3DS, here's to hoping this mentality maintains through the device's lifetime.

Doesn't the 3DS come out on the 27th? So no one will be able to get the "launch day" costume on the 24th? Let alone the costumes from the 25th and 26th? What a weird promotion...

If they don't release a complete pack in the far future with everything released in this manner, then it's far from "right" in my opinion. DLC should never punish those who are unable to get them in an arbitrary timeframe.
It's fucking costumes. If you want them, pick the game up at launch and grab them. You have fair warning.

@ricochetguro it's not a launch title, but it's coming out soon after launch. The "launch day" that is being referred to is the game's launch, not the console's.

Though like I said there should be a trading feature or something so people who miss out can get them. Or maybe make them viral, you beat someone wearing it you get it.
I'm not a big fan of only these guys get it and never again.

The developers doesn't owe you this content, thus its FREE. So who cares if they give it away only once a day for a month, or every day for a entire year. ITS STILL FREE! Not $2, to $3 a pop, so enjoying your fucking fabulous DLC models on the other systems, but the rest of us will see this for what it is. Just a cool way to get FREE DLC!

While I'm a big DOA fan, I don't think this is a good way promote downloadable costumes, especially lanchday-exculsive DLC.
Um, this could obviously just have come with the game to begin with. Not sure how keeping it locked away and then drip feeding it is a good thing.
