idiot gamers buy because they don't know anything about anything except videogames
The theme was definitely simple, but what is up your bum? Simplicity can be a good thing at times and I thought the theme was effective, if a bit melodramatic.
I'm surprised they're selling the theme so early, though. I guess they want to get as much money as possible to help fund their marketing. Not a bad idea, this way.
Simple can be fine (see: Imogen Heap's Hide And Seek, 99% of Bob Dylan's songs, most versions of Hallelujah especially Leonard Cohen's original, about half the music in Carmen, etc etc etc), but this trailer's music is... meh. Give an art student a piano and they'll come up with the same thing in a few minutes.
I don't think you're giving the string arrangement the respect it deserves, but yea, that piano and its four chords are just being a big ol' PUSSY. AND WHERE WAS THE DOUBLE BASS IN THAT SONG AMIRITE?!
It was a pretty piece of music. Yes, it was simple, yes the main body of it was based in repetition. That doesn't stop it being an effective, evocative tune.
It's rather ironic that TheOrangeFellow especially felt the need to claim that gamers were insular and ignorant, as he betrays his own ignorance by slamming a piece of music on incredibly flimsy grounds.
I liked the theme at all, but I'm not buying it. I'm stealing something that's only .99, I'm such a terrible person. There is nothing you can do about it Jim.
This more so has to do with me not using iTunes than wanting to be a pirate though. (hell, I might not even download it due to it not being that great)
Yes, Epic-KxDtoid said it best....eat that dick, eat that dick WHOLE!
Reminds me of LOST....which is a nice feeling for some reason.
You really come off as one stuck-up music critic. What makes your opinion so significant? If this simple melody strikes a chord with some listeners, who the hell are you to call them an idiot?
Are you perhaps one of those "intellectual gamers" that think they're the epitome of good taste? If "idiot gamers" get on your nerves so much, WHY ARE YOU EVEN ON A GAMING SITE? Genius.
I don't know what type of music you or other commenters here favor, but did you ever stop to think maybe this will sell simply because it's been easily accessible AND it's only 99 cents? I realize there is a lot of great music in games, but if it hasn't been widely heard due to poor sales/circulation, how are you going to criticize people for not liking music THEY HAVEN'T EVEN HEARD?!
Eat it. Eat a lot of it. And love it.
Liked the trailer, liked the song. Bought it.
If you don't want it, don't buy it. Stomping around pounding your fists like a gorilla about it just makes you look dumb.
I resent the fact that you are pushing your views on this musical piece on others. That we only like it because we are 'idiot gamers' who don't know anything about anything else except games. I have been a musician since I was 6 years old. It's a beautiful piece of music that works perfectly with the trailer. And what's wrong with repeating 4 chords? My advice to you would be to look up the 4 Chord Song by the Axis of Awesome, which demonstrates the fact that pretty much every famous pop song has used the same 4 chord structure.
Anyway enough ranting. Fantastic piece of music :) Love it, love everything about it.
The dude only used four chords?
Composers have been doing that for centuries man. It takes talent to create something so simple that manages to get all of those colors to combine in a manner that creates a significant emotional response.
If you think using only four chords detracts from a piece I guess I should point you towards Mozart. That dude composed several pieces using a math equation and a pair of dice.
Anyways, I bought the piece. I am now in my boredom putting it to cat videos. It is a testament to how great the piece is that this is actually worth it.
