At E3 2006, I played a game called Dead Island on the PC, and it sure didn't look like this. But that's a good thing, because Techland looks like they're headed in the right direction with this open world zombie survival first-person shooter.

What's that? You don't think there's enough gameplay shown here to make any judgments? Come on now -- you should know that anything with the flesh eating dead is cool in my book. Yeah, maybe living dead-themed games are the new World War II, but who cares? You get to whack the walking dead with a crowbar ... in first person!

Xbox 360 and PC gamers can expect Dead Island in 2008.

It's as if "Farcry" and "Dead Rising" had a baby. Good thing "State of Emergency" was revealed not to be the father after the paternity test.

Dead Island? That doesn't make sense. I also like the virtual farts at the end, this game must be good.

I thought he looked a little Latino, but maybe that's just me. The world would be a better place if we had some sombrero wearing zombies.

@ Mxyzptlk

I'm pretty sure it's from Return of the Living Dead 2. His name is Tar Man, just a gooey decomposing zombie. He's cool though.

Thanks! I knew it was something I'd seen on cable late at night, but couldn't recall what.

Damn, you guys are harsh... The video was short, but I thought it looked pretty good. And let's be honest, who doesn't love zombies?

Poonster's avatar is from Return of the Living Dead. Not part 2. This is my favorite zombie movie of all time though....

In a way I don't mind FPS games now having a crack at the zombie killing game. They should have put together a better damn trailer than this though. Learn to tease us better. Give us some comedy talking zombies or something.

Out of this and Left 4 Dead, the latter is looking much better.

Come on Capcom, give us a dose of Dead Rising 2.

eh. the enviroment looks good, but the trailer didnt really express the "dead" part of dead island.

Tarman was in most of the Return movies, I think...

Tar Man, was in the first Return of the Living Dead movie. He is awesome, and is the only zombie I've ever heard say "Brains" that wasn't from a cheesefest of a movie.

The trailer looks decent, but overall left me thinking that they have a long way to go, seeing as they only showed off an empty setting, and one zombie. But the game idea is sweet, anything with zombies is great.

Tarman was in Return of the Living Dead 2, of that I'm sure. It was just on a moment ago. If there were more than one Tarman in the Return of the Living Dead series, then that would explain it. I never seen the first one, at least as far as I can remember, but Tarman definitely was in RotLD 2.
