This is great i was really expecting Techland to be successful best co-op game of the year hands down
This game is a poster boy for "fun > polish"
As a new ip, I'm fucking loving every minute, and I'm seriously excited to see where techland take it in future, a little polish, and a few perfections and we could see some truely amazing sequels!
If you've not played it, check it out. I've never played a zombie game that "got" the desperation the situation would involve like dead island has.

sweet! this game is alot of fun, and i actually feel like i really need to prepare myself every time im about to leave the fenced in compound. it really feel like a true zombie game. im glad i ignored the "release issues" and got the game anyway. thanks to jims review of course!

I'm on the same boat. Very fun game even with the little issues.though the patch was out yesterday and fixed a good bit

It's why i'm not so psyched about RAGE. I was hoping for borderlands esque 2 player at the very least but no they have decided it shall not be so.

Good. it's nice to see a new IP doing so well. Hopefully it's success spawns more new Ip's in the future.
Despite feeling like another one of those games that is of the "hey you can play single or coop, your choice Bro guy! But seriously, play it coop," genre, where if you're alone, you're going to die a bunch, I have had a ton of fun with this game. The combat speaks to my dark, primal nature at my core of wanting things to not have limbs.
The ridicu-fun to be had in this game almost blots out the incredibly rough edges that this game shipped with. First time someone joined my game, it hard crashed my system and theirs. My buddy also got a corrupt save file about halfway through the campaign.
Kudos to the devs though for shipping so many units.

I probably will pick this up eventually, but I think I'm going to wait until a Steam sale. Glad to see it's doing well, as people seem to be enjoying it quite a bit, despite any issues it may have.

wow that was quick especially for a game that I never saw an ad for anyplace but a game blog or site. Good for them hopefully they keep patching it up and make it a stronger experience even though its already a very fun one.

Although now I'm roaming about with a whole load of sick weapons I do kinda miss the "oh shit my wooden stick is broke! Ooh a metal pipe!" feeling from the first part of the game.

Great news. Sure, it has shipped with issues, but they've been busy fixing them, and they released a patch with a ton of fixes the other day. Fantastic game. Techland has officially hit it big with this one. Congrats.

Makes sense. It has been years since I've seen a game genuinely sell out in my parts. Still waiting for the next shipment so my buddies can join in.
Glad to see the game has become a "sleeper hit." Single-player is fun and I'm looking forward to trying co-op this weekend. Two of my friends tried the co-op last weekend and they had a great time.
They deserve it. This is my favorite "zombie" game ever made. I like it more than L4D and L4D2 even.

I want to try this game, but apparently the two rentals at the local blockbuster haven't been returned in a week. The future does not bode well for me, it seems. I might just have to buy this.

I originally had no plans to get this game early while it was full price. I was surprised on release day to see virtually EVERYONE in my friends list playing it. I decided to pick it up the next day and had to travel out of town to find a store with any copies left. I'm glad I got it. There are a few small issues here and there, but I haven't run into anything gamebreaking. I think Sexualchocolate put it best: "fun > polish"
I agree with Sexualchocolate. I can obviously see some of the flaws, but I don't care. The fact that I can make a zombie deep throat an electrified chainsaw, kick it square in the chest, and then make it bite the curb makes it so damn satisfying. Especially against Thugs or Butchers. Seriously, FUCK the Butchers.

Well I just went on Amazon to check my list, as I do daily (you never know when a price drop will happen on anything), and their recommended price for Dead Island was something like $76.95.
Looking into it I found that for whatever reason Amazon switched their price with another one of their vendors, but that vendor obviously feels like someone will pay that. And given that there was a "Will ship within 2-3 weeks" notice on Amazon's price for the game just a few days ago (its gone now), I wouldn't doubt that sort of thing is getting people jazzed up.
Looking deeper into the prices others are trying to sell the game for any where between $70 and up (all the way to over $100).. Its crazy.
