I plan on eventually picking it up if the reviews are solid, but I've gotta finish up Gothic 4 and Alice before Gears hits and there's no point in buying another game right now that's just gonna go straight in the backlog.
in concept this in my dream game. an open world world first person zombie game where guns and amo are scarce. hope it ends up beging good. it is being developed by techland after all. i hope the reason coj the cartel was so shit, is cause they focused their rescources on this game instead
Also, that said 9-9-11, I thought it was 9-6-11.....EB Games also has the 6th down rather than the 9th.

Review embargo on dead island before launch? mmm something smells rank here, and its not rotting zombie flesh! I think Deep-Slver are hiding a mediocre game behind flashy visuals. I hope Im wrong though.
I thought the game wasn't supposed to be centered on guns yet we see quite a bunch of them in this trailer. Sounds like a bait and switch :/

With all the other major realises coming up, I got this thing on pre-order, screw the sequals, give me the zombies...but why do I have to wait 4 more damn days to get it...curse you UK game realises.
I still think the game looks unappealing. I want a story driven zombie survival game, not another zombie slaughtering simulator.
I think the trailer shows lots of guns, just to appeal to people who just like shooters, but not particularly looking for a zombie survival shooter.
I've cared less and less about this the closer it's gotten to release. But hey, if it gets good reviews I'll pick it up next year.

my only worry at this point is the lack of zombies really
i guess im too used to left 4 deads hordes. so far ive only seen like 5 zombies max being fought at once

I noticed that too. Ive never seen more than 5 or 6 zombies at a time in the trailers. Surely if they wanted to impress people they would have showed at least one video with more than 6 zombies on screen? this is looking like a bit of a turkey with each passing day.
PC pre-order is only $34 on Green man gaming if anyone is interested (there are codes around to lower it to that price, google should bring it up quickly). At that point, I'll take it on launch. It's also Steamworks, so no extra installations is nice. Here's hoping it's good!

Did the same thing, $33.96 to be exact :D. I'm still a little weary about this title. Techlands track record seems pretty "meh." I know video game reviews aren't the holy gospel, but they shouldn't be completely ignored either. Regardless, I like the concept, and for the $33.96 it cost me to preorder, it won't hurt too much if it turns out barely passable.

I tried the green man gaming gig and only one of the codes I found worked, but it did work at least. Tried to use it again on a different game and it was a no go :(
While I enjoy the trailers for this game the game itself still looks a bit lacking to me. I feel somewhat intrigued by the game, but my conscious is telling me that I should forget about it. Besides, Disgaea 4 should be arriving soon so I'll have no time for this game even if I did want to buy it.

If Jim's discussion on a few week's Podtoid is correct, the reason there are only a handful of zombies on screen at once is because, unlike Left 4 Dead where they go down with a bullet or two, they are incredibly resilient. Four zombies and four players are an even matchup, and if you run into three or four of them alone, you are pretty much screwed unless you run. Dead Island seems to be trying to make individual zombies as intimidating as possible, and if that is true, then it would make sense why there are only a handful seen at once in the videos.

I'm not quite sure how I feel about this game. At first, when it was going for that more or less sentimental zombie game with the first trailer I thought it was a lot more interesting then it is now, which is another L4D. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it almost seems like they gave up what they originally were going for.
