Dead Island infects PlayStation Home photo

In what may be the most exciting PlayStation Home related news in living memory (topping even the announcement of Home itself), Dead Island publisher Deep Silver has announced that the upcoming zombie-survival/First person melee title will be making waves in Home's Central Plaza. Rather than give it a dedicated space as is the case with most games, they've opted for a full-on Home takeover.

Amidst the panic of the zombified Central Square, you'll find a Dead Island minigame which tasks you with crafting items and withstanding the zombie onslaught. Completion of the game and it's 10 challenges will unlock the "Exploding Meat" exclusive weapon in the full game. It's unclear what exactly that particular toy entails, but it sounds spectacular.

The event will go live shortly before the release of Dead Island and, because they care, you'll be able to preorder the game right from Home itself via a Central Plaza kiosk.

If you were looking for a reason to give Home another chance, this might be it.

I'm sure it will be as full of life as a dead island.

Intresting I will say I rarely go on home. But i went on during e3, and was plesantly surprised with all of the upgrades and little hubs going on. If Sony could cut.down load times and streamline it a bit home might be closer to.it original pitch.

There's a shit ton of people on Home every day. I use to think it was dead, but I gave it a spin late one night and found it to be packed.

This is why PS3 will always be better than 360. Home makes Halo look like a game for babies. 360 is poop.

Kinda cool I guess? I haven't used Home in a long time, but I hear there are actually some pretty good free games called Sodium 2,and Scribble shooter.
Anyone try these?

Thats sounds alright. I'll check that out. What would make it a little cooler (and I keep saying this) is if later on when the game comes out I could put my Home Avatar into the actual game.

I still think Home is alright. The problem is it's just the die hard Home fans in there now. Don't go in thinking you're going to find players to fill a game with. Most everyone there is there to play poker, and that's about it.

@MCBattery
Haven't tried Scribble Shooter, but Sodium 2 is alright.

I always thought that HOME needed guns, blood and dead bodies... but the added bonus of Zombies makes this a definite winner!

Hope it's good.

I wish they'd make a low rez version of Home though. I don't really know what's in there because I'm too impatient to load any of it. Or they could auto-update everything when you're idling on the XMB or after you turn your system off.
