Dead Island 2 rumors strongly denied by Deep Silver
Despite an earlier report from IGN Germany, it appears Deep Silver is not currently working on Dead Island 2 with Yager Development; in fact, they're not working on it at all. The initial story claimed an ad had surfaced seeking a lead artist and art director to begin work on the sequel following the completion of Spec Ops: The Line, which Yager is currently developing. However, in a subsequent statement to IGN, Guido Eickmeyer, Development Director of Deep Silver says:
I'm probably not alone in having erroneously assumed that Dead Island 2 was already in the works. I for one would love a sequel. Especially if isn't called Dead World. Despite its initial launch issues, it went on to sell 3 million, so clearly the fan base is there. I'd really like to see them deliver on some of the emotional elements by creating a more cohesive story line. Between that and an improved menu system, I think the series could be primed for perfection. I really hope it ultimately gets a chance to work these issues out in a follow up. Did you know? Legacy Comments (will be imported soon)Rather play Borderlands 2, because isn't that what Dead Island basically was? Atleast I know it won't be another trash consoleport. "nor do we have Dead Island 2 in concept or production with external partners."
That does not mean THEY are not working on it, right? I hope there is a sequel, there's a great chance to learn from all the flaws and produce a more refined game. Damn. I thought they were on this already. Love the first one. Was really hoping Dead World was a thing. Fingers crossed this does see a sequel. Picked it up for £5 last year with not much expectations. Ended up one my favourite games of the year, flawed but completely addictive and rewarding. Don't know, you could read anything out of that.
No, Yager is not working on it, but Techland. No, we're not working on Dead Island 2, but Dead World. ... I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Dead Island. It wasn't quite GOTY material, but was a very fun and innovative game. A sequel building on what they learned with the first would be most welcome indeed, but I would also like to see them try something else as well. Certainly hope we get a sequel of some kind. Really enjoyed Dead Island. I got to hit things with a hammer. That's always a meaningful experience for me. dead island was my goty. was epic, the zombie game a zombie nut like me always dreamded of.
