DC Universe Online has had a busy six months. There's been several significant updates, including the addition of Light powers and the switch to a free-to-play model. The MMO looks like it's going to end the year in a scarlet blur, with the latest DLC pack, Lightning Strikes. The focus of the DLC will be new missions featuring the Flash and the new Electricity powerset.
On top of that there will be new high tier gear inspired by Black Lightning and Zoom as well as a new city to save or corrupt, Central City. If it's anything like the Green Lantern update, there's sure to be a lot of content. Whether or not it fixes the end game grind and plethora of bugs remains to be seen. Lightning Strikes went live today, it's free for Legendary players and will set Free and Premium players back $9.99. You can pick it up through the in game marketplace on PC or the PSN store. Happy speeding!
I grabbed this over the last weekend and was pleasantly surprised by how active and fun it is. I'm making myself hold off on buying any of the packs until I'm sure I want to keep playing....but those Light Powers are tempting!
You can at any time, just ask if anyone is doing the same mission as you and invite them to group or have them invite you.
Under the quest log the game lists all the main and side missions as solo content and the wanted/bounty, raids, alerts, etc. are group content. While you can group at any time for any quest, the ones labeled under group will be neigh impossible to beat alone. Just ask for help, people are friendly. Also check out the forums and website for more complete guides to what to do and when.
Ah, Black Lightning, proving and disproving how "racially cool" DC is all in one name and character.
Any way, I know the game flows differently then most, but it feels like a lesser known (to the general public) city like this should be a low level area and you'd have to build up to something like Gotham or Metropolis.. If they'd add more cities later, I kind of hope they change the flow. They need to make you want to see Gotham and Metropolis and hold them at arms length, not feed them to you right at the start -that goes on to be one of the games greatest flaws to me: The instant gratification.
