DC Universe Online: Brainiac's last hurrah photo

The heroes and villains of DC Universe Online will soon be getting yet another DLC pack containing a whole bunch of content and another new power set. "Battle for Earth" will begin a new chapter in DCUO's greater narrative where players will fight the ultimate battle against Brainiac and his final Avatar. A "shocking new threat" will be introduced with the fall of Brainiac, it seems like Earth never catches a break.

Alongside the continuing story SOE have added two new raids. The first is on Themyscira, which is being assaulted by Brainiac's minions. Any island populated exclusively with gorgeous female warriors is worth defending in my book. The second raid is the final battle for Earth itself, where players will face Brainiac and save, or corrupt, Earth. On top of that there will be two new duos, a new alert and lots of open world content. If you feel like it's time to make another alt, you might be interested in the new Earth power set. You can summon mighty constructs, cause earthquakes and reinforce your allies in Tank or DPS roles. The DLC will be out for PC and PS3 "soon."

I'm genuinely interested in what the "shocking new threat" is. Especially since the whole r&d system is based on Brainiac's no-good doing, and it'll have to be something suitably epic to push the narrative into the next year. Given that the heroes and villains were "working together" to fight Brainiac, will their respective attentions be turned to each other now? Also, there is so much unused space in both Gotham and Metropolis, I hope that we can start seeing those buildings unbottled.

BTW, its BRAINiac, not Braniac. Braniac sounds like a villain that constipates you or something.

Braniac is easily the most terrifying grain based supervillain, Brainiac has nothing on him.

This just reminded me that I should download the game from Steam to try out. And so I did that thing.

Actually I think Flax Luther is most feared now after the Muffin Man subdued Braniac in issue 9 of The Grain Wars.

I think that rapper supervillian is much worse. Enemaman. And I just named my next alt.

Braniac is terrifying. Bowel movements are no laughing matter, mortal!

Honestly, I'm more interested in the new threat then I am about the idea of ending Brainiac. Like, I get that the game needs to keep moving, so that a year later it makes sense that players should be taking him down and moving on (I mean, even if it wasn't an MMO, its still based on Comics, and this is how these things move) but it just seems like he was a passing threat to meet an ends, which in this case was to create the player characters.

Saddest thing of all is probably the fact that the stuff leading up to the game made his threat all the more dire then it feels like it was -but, again, thats both MMO's and comics for yoy.

I'm kind of hoping however that the next threat will be Darkseid and Apokolypse. I know its a bit cliche in the DCU now, but being able to actually play that battle out.. That'll be something that'll get me to log on more (which, given I haven't since I set up my free account.. Is really actually saying a lot)

@quantumriian

I say this a lot, but I'm still pretty positive they lifted a good deal of this game from the dead MXO, which had TONS of dead space in all of its areas. So its not all that surprising that DCUO has it too.
