Not really. I tried. At the time it hit, I enjoyed it, but after all the refinements the sequels have made, it feels like a semi crappy collectathon.
The first one kinda sucked in my opinion. It took me ages to warm up to getting the 2nd one after the bad taste in my mouth the first one left.
It's a nice gesture even though it's only to promote extra sales and it doesn't cost ubisoft anything. I bought the original for my laptop and i enjoyed it...until i got lost. I couldn't figure out what to do so i spent some time killing shit. Then i got bored.
Not to hate but the first AC was more like a glorified tech demo compared to the later games where things really got fleshed out. nice to see them throwing it in though - i enjoyed it at the time.
SO if you buy it day 1 you can play it on the disc but if you don't buy it day 1 (and register it/log into uplay I guess) then it's just left sitting there on the disc?

4 years =/= long time. Especially when you consider that this is the 4th AC game in 4years. I'll give props where props are due, the AC team makes really really pretty cities and the games are pretty ok and fun to run around in as sandbox games go. But I'd prefer if companies took a little more care and time in making their games rather than pumping out yearly (or even semi-annual) sequels. 2-3 Years between titles is much better for devs to be able to come up with new ideas and new technology to take advantage of.

I have played all of the games in the series so far, and the first one still remains my favorite. I am so sick of the renaissance setting at this point that I doubt i'll be picking up Revelations. Anyway, this is cool for fans of the games who joined in at AC 2 or Brotherhood.
I sure hope this isn't just a gimmick to make up for a shoddy port like every other AC game on PS3. The games aren't unplayable by any stretch of the imagination, but there is definitely a visible difference in the framerate between Xbox and PS3. I'm not just crazy am I? Has anyone else noticed this?
Either way, I can't wait for this game. I've had it preordered for months, mainly so I could get the Signiture edition and the Penny-Arcade poster.

the main reason why i like assasins creed 2 was bc of the Renaissance setting. but i havent even considered playing brother hood. the first one in my option was a little eh. i never really had fun. but i havent finished assasins creed 2 u_u lol something about jumping back to it after months of not playing it, because i was really into playing mass effect 2 its not one of those pick up and play type of games. i never really got into it again. ill give it another shot some other day. but ill skip out on this one too.
Still the best game of the series, at least story-wise, in my opinion. The openworld missions could get repetitive and Im sure time has done them no favours, but nothing beat planning the approach and execution of those assassination moments for me, something the following games sorely lacked.

The first game is only playable on PC IMO, because it adds a handful of new bridge missions to advance the game.
I tried playing it on consoles, but doing the exact same 3 missions over and over really gets to me; I just can't do it.

This is pretty cool. I played through the original game, though I don't own it. It was fun, but no where near as good as 2 or Brotherhood. Here's hoping that this happens with the 360 version as well.

I played the first one on the 360 but I don't mind getting a free game. This was already a day one for me.
This series has never drawn me in before. Something about it just feels stale and formulaic. I keep wishing they would do a game set in the modern world (that's in the story). If they made that well enough I might get interested in the earlier games. But this isn't that tempting. :/
Assassin's Creed was dull, depressing, uninteresting and featured a vaguely explained combat system. Dear lord do I feel bad for having it in my library.

I think that the first AC may turn off players that have become accustomed to the good gameplay and slightly better AI of the later iterations in the AC franchise. Plus the first AC was extremely frustrating, but rewarding if you were patient, which I was; great game by the way. Anyway it's a good deal so I think that those who "go down" on that deal, are in for a treat.
While I was a fan of the first game, I didn't even know why. I absolutely hated the gameplay elements in the original game and wished to see them expanded. I dug the story though.

It's free, who cares if they want to play it. I don't and I still want it. Also I didn't start playing till AC2 and my primary interest for revelations is honestly the multiplayer. I'm surprised at it's depth.
I'm sure a lot of people would be willing to go back and play the original if they included trophies in the bundled copy.

In fact, if anyone is curious about this series, just buy Assassin's Creed 2. Everything else is worthless.
The first assassins creed sucked hard. That was the absolute way you are NOT supposed to handle an open world environment. It was only there to pad out the length of the game, and you practically have to tiptoe across the city, lest you provoke an hours worth of harassing enemies. Even if you are slowly crawling across the city, some stupid drunk psycho would smack you, which causes the city guards to ATTACK YOU. Far more frustration than fun.
I got AC1 for the PS3 the first time and I couldn't take the screen tearing on that game. I bought the one for the 360 and I loved it. From then on, I bought AC titles for the 360 but this news make me feel bad. PS3 is my primary console and I'm a PlayStation fanboy (sort of).
I still have my original copy of Assassins Creed, but if trophy support is added I'll happily get rid of it, and replay the one on the AC:R disc.
I think this is a better way to coerce people to buy the game new, rather than punishing those buying it used with online passes and such.
If this means Ubisoft will release a trophy patch for the original game then great! If not... meh. Truthfully, I don't even know why I have my original copy anymore. Might as well sell it since I doubt I'll ever play it again (again, unless for trophies).
Eh, I picked up AC: The Secret Crusade by Oliver Bowden...which is basically the first game told through the eyes of Niccolo Polo, Marco's dad, to his brother..who was told the stories by an elderly Altair...

Err have people played AC1 since they've improved the series? Not sure they're doing you a favor here...
That's a cool add-in, if only because it will give newcomers an idea of just who this Altair character is that Ezio keeps hallucinating about. Plus, it will inform them just how far the series has come over the past few games.

I played the first AC when it came out and hated it. I dont know how it got so many good reviews at the time.
I could see potential in the series and tried AC 2 and loved it.
Id love for them to try a different character or a vastly different setting again. But they probably dont have the time with the yearly releases.

AC1 is my favourite Assassin's Creed game..I liked the slow methodical pace. I think I spent more time playing it than I did the other two combined. It's not to everyone's taste but I don't really understand why people talk like it's a piece of trash.
