Day made: Rayman: Origins coming to PC in March photo

Against all odds, Rayman: Origins will get a PC version this year. The big day is set for March 29, 2012. I'm still in shock over here, to be honest.

By pre-ordering at participating retailers, Ubisoft is also throwing in a copy of Rayman 2. Better yet, they're starting this off at a budget-friendly price of $29.99. Origins was an utter joy to play, and one can only hope it sees a long-tail success thanks in part to PC gamers.

Minimum configuration

It's easily one of my favorite platformers of all time - it was so charming, and easy to delve into.

I'll probably get getting it for the Vita in addition to my 360 version.

I want this game on PSN so much.

I'm not asking for another price drop, I just want to avoid shipping problems right now.

Ugh. Here comes ultra-restrctive DRM, I just know it. I'm just happy having the PS3 version, and I'm waiting for it to release on 3DS as well.

Excellent news. Day 1 purchase for me.

Anyone else thinking that the upcoming years are going to see more and more multi-plats and less and less exclusives?

I'm liking this a lot. Would love to choose a platform we like (PC for me, consoles for others) and still be able to enjoy all of the games out there. With witcher 2 and Diablo eventually making it to consoles, and Alan Wake, this, and other console titles making it to PC, we're almost there!

Mwahahaha awesome. They must have seen how well Sonic Generations did on PC at that price point.

Damn is it a great time to be a PC gamer.

That's cool but lets be honest here.woth as low as the sales were on consoles I don't see much better for the PC version. Which is a shame.

Ubisoft + PC is a general recipe for heartache and nerd rage. will this be any different?

i'd like to remain optimistic, but this is Ubisoft we're talking about...

Yeah, but does any of it outweigh their DRM? Cause thats a big deal breaker for me.

"Ubisoft" and "PC" should rarely be used in the same sentence because of that simple fact.

Apparently according to RPS, Rayman: Origins will have NO DRM for retail releases!!! And one-time activation for digital. If this is true, then not too shabby I must say.

Too bad it isn't also coming to Mac, but still. Way cool. I realize that this game was made with a decently small team, but I still love that Ubisoft seems to be really giving this title a shot.

Goddamnit, why didn't they announce that earlier? Now I already have the Xbox version. But then, we don't know what DRM-scheme they'll come up this time while trying to fuck their product over...

Seriously? I'll be damned! It's official now: Ubisoft is a charity, not a business! It's the only possible explanation for them to keep bringing pretty much all of their games to PC when they claim it's pointless because 95% of us will just pirate them anyways!

Anyways, great news for me. Looks like I'll play this game after all!

This is great news, im still gonna buy the 360 in the comming week or 2 but thats only because my GFX card stinks and need upgrading.

Ill pick up the PC version at some point only because I can enjoy the online co-op. I usually only have a silver live account as im not into console dudebro FPS games and cant justify paying MS £40 a year just to play this and Dark Souls (I hope DS comes to PC for the same reason)

All the games that I do want to play online co-op are xbla or niche games and have empty servers a month after release. Steam is so much better for finding players for niche games as the regular steam sales always brings in a steady influx of new players months and years after release.

In short MS you suck! for niche games, I pray for the day all Japanese & XBLA devs release their games on Steam so I can drop this shitbox and spend my cash on the PC and PS3 / Wii

hehe sorry for the mini rant :D

on topic. The boxed version will be DRM free with the steam version having a one time activation.

I hope PC gamers buy this game and dont use the fact Ubi are DRM shitheads for most of their PC games (and Jims latest Jimiquition) as some justification to pirate it.

Contary to what most folk think Ubisoft are open to the possiblity of not using DRM, its up to PC gamers to vote with their wallets

"The boxed version will be DRM free with the steam version having a one time activation."

Are you serious? That's awesome. I might buy two copies just to show my appreciation. And considering that the rest of the Rayman games are on GOG.com, I guess you're right about them being open to the possibility of not using DRM. Now if only we could convince them to put more time into their ports...

@TheNephilym

IIRC the PC versions of Might&Magic: Clash Of Heroes and Driver: San Fransico were DRM free or atleast very light like a one time activation of somesuch.

Ubi have also tried other experiments in DRM free, as a year or 2 ago they removed TAGES from all their UK steam games bar Zeit2. IIRC they changed went back DRM 6 months later.

Since Ubi vehemently say that DRM does work for them, I would hazard a guess that they have data somewhere that says if they remove their DRM more ppl pirate it than the group of gamers who buy it because its DRM free.

Im not saying that I agree with them as ild rather they come to some middleground where DRM is concerned and not be either totally DRM free or totally DRM nazis like they are atm. Personally I think a large block of ppl dont buy their games or pirate just because of the stigma and dont relise some of their games are DRM free.
