David Jaffe confirms three new PlayStation 3 exclusives photo

David Jaffe doesn't waste time. It's just over two weeks since he left Sony to set up his Eat, Sleep, Play studio with Incognito founder Scott Campbell, and already he has four games lined up for his previous employer's machines.

The PlayStation 2 port of the PSP's Twisted Metal: Head On we already knew about, but in an interview with GamePro, Kratos' dad has confirmed that the studio's three game deal with Sony relates entirely to exclusive PlayStation 3 titles, with the first one to hit in 2008. Speaking of that game, Jaffe said:

I can't disclose themes, but the new game is medium to hardcore in terms of game play and will focus heavily on multiplayer.

I am more excited about this game than anything I have ever worked on. I cannot wait to unveil it.

Given that Jaffe has previously expressed reluctance to work on any more large scale epics it's unlikely we'll be seeing any new mega-franchises from Eat, Sleep, Play any time soon, but if Sony is really serious about its slow and steady approach to the PS3, a consistent supply of this sort of thing is going to work wonders.

[Thanks John]

I hope his new studio will allow him to complete "Heartland" for the PSP. I was really intrigued by the concept and depth of that game.

I'm gonna guess that one of those three exclusives will be another in the Twisted Metal series.

I predict Jaffee's new game will involve tits, blood, and cars smashing together.

Actually that sounds rad. When's it coming out?

All the new Jaffe games are PSN titles, no? Could care less for now until more info is released.

Does Sony still own the IP of God Of War? Or did Jaffe take that with him? I'm guessing the first is the case and Sony will hire his studio for GoW3

Jaffe makes McGames. Junk food gaming.

I like junk food, but I'm not impressed by it. I am as excited about Jaffe's new projects as I am about ever forboding return of the McRibb.

Meaning, not excited. But when they are cheap and I am hungry for junk, I'll probably buy them.

Awww, I was hoping he'd yell at Joystiq again.

Oh well, I'm all for Twisted Metal Black 2, God of War 3, and Calling All Cars 2.

From a business standpoint, he's bat shit insane to make any exclusive 'arcade' games. No matter what he makes, Sony will put on the market place anyway, so why not chuck it on the 360 as well? It seems like turning down free money to just 'stick to the old crew' is crazy to me.
