You can't moan about needing better gameplay until the game actually has some sort of vague gameplay which Heavy Rain did not
The Kara demo was, honestly, really impressive. That it was a year old tech demo was astounding enough.
Heavy Rain was engaging so long as you didn't try to put any thought into the story. Otherwise it became a "Wait a second. That doesn't make sense at all!" story.
That said, I thought Heavy Rain was great, up to the BS ending. Looking forward to QD's next project.

It just feels like in relation to his games, no one ever told him "No, that's stupid/ridiculous" and held their ground until he listened to them.
How about a better villain reveal that doesn't rely in not showing you what really happens when you play?
Ever thought of that, or are you content with writing Scooby Doo type "mysteries"?
He makes glorified point-and-click adventure games, stop treating them as otherwise. Its just a slap in the face to Lucasarts and Traveler's Tales, even Capcom and Level 5 to say Heavy Rain was ground breaking and ambitious. Myst, Maniac Mansion, Sam and Max, Monkey Island Ace Attorney, Professor Layton, Walking Dead all run circles around Cage's games.
Dear Mr. Cage, a good video game is not constituted by how realistic your characters eyeball movements are, or how... "good" your writing is. It actually needs to be fun to play. Holding down R2 to walk and silly Move controls are not what makes a decent game either. Stop being so pretentious, and get into indie film making, because its clearly where you want to be. Though, I doubt the acting will be very good.
Then he goes on to blame the games marketing and tech. I'll admit less screen tearing would have made for a better experience, but that wasn't the problem it was the writing. Good writing is more important than tech. The Phoenix Wright games may have reused alot of assets, and some of the sprites needed touching up, but when it came to writing those games delivered which made up for the presentation, and made those games incredible.
It doesn't matter how artsy your camera angles are, or how realistic you're motion capture is, it won't mask a shitty story .
Also this game wasn't as unique as some people say it is. It was an adventure game with alot of interactivity cut out. Essentially an adventure game with everything good about the genre gutted out. The "choices" weren't even really choices it was basically do quick time event, and if you pass or fail it or not it might alter the ending.
And last and most importantly if it going to be a videogame it has to benefit from being a videogame. Heavy Rain did not benefit from being a game. The interactivity was so minimal that it added nothing to the experience, and the multiple endings just added more plot holes and asked for more suspense of disbelief. This reminds me back to my days in film class when my teacher mentioned that sometimes you need to realize that your film would be better suited as a book or for some other story telling medium. In this case this game would be better suited as a film (not saying it would make for a good film though).
But man, if he thinks better visuals and rendering are what his games are lacking then it’s just gonna be the same mistakes all over again with this new thing. I could give him the benefit of the doubt, but this’ll be the third strike if he doesn’t listen to what people are saying.
the hell O____O
He's like that hipster twat we all know who is so busy trying to show the world how special and unique he is that alienation and pure, vicious, hellacious anger is all he gets back.
Why can't he just make games and leave the pr to someone who isn't a clueless arrogant fuck face?
Don't forget male and probably human, at the very least they are both bipedal mammals.
