Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine wants to kick your ass. Well, not literally, but with the original track he wrote for the upcoming Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock.

The song "Sudden Death" (spoiler alert!) plays during the game's final battle, a face-off with the demigod of rock. It's a finger-blistering number written specifically for the game, the intention to push the Guitar Hero player's skills to the limit. Mustaine is proud of the track, which he wrote based on a script and game illustrations provided to him by Neversoft.

How he describes the song: it starts off scary, then it stops, then it picks up pace at the end. That's like going into a record store and saying "I'm looking for this song I heard on the radio. It goes 'dummy dum dum dum' on the bass, and then the drums come in and it's all like 'widdly-wah, widdly-wah' on the guitar right before the singer says 'can you feel my raging heat, come down with it girl.' Do you have that one?"

Check the video above to hear the track, see the note chart in action, and marvel at the fact that Mustaine has had the same haircut for over 25 years.

Megadeth have been getting better with age, as opposed to some bands *cough*Metallica*cough*

Either way, dammit Dave: Rock Band...ROCK BAND! NOT Guitar Hero =/

A few years back I heard a co-worker of mine (born-again christian + way into christian metal) let out a loud gasp while surfing the web over lunch and immediately dialing his phone. His first words to the person on the other end were "Dude, did you hear the news? Dave Mustaine hsa been Saved!"

It's only tangentially relevant here, but it still cracks me up.

@alias: Metallica has always sucked though. I'm not sure those guys can even be considered a metal band anymore.

I still prefer playing a real guitar rather than some fake plastic guitar.

-Also Rock Band 3 teaching you how to play real guitar?
Yeah, learn real boxing by playing Wii Sports.

I wouldn't say always. The first 3 albums were awesome, and even Justice was great. But the Black Album and beyond is where it all went to shit.

@explosion2

Yeah, it teaches you which notes to play. Not how to play them. Rb3 will breed robot guitarists with no style.

True story: Dave came to my local record store (here in Tempe AZ), to do a book signing. He was supposed to be there from 10-12. Following an abrupt rainstorm at 11 ( it wasn't blood; I know, not metal enough), he split. Say what you will about Metallica, at least they didn't get all fundy-Christian.

@Alias: Nope they have always sucked IMO. Their first albums where definitely metal albums, but now I prefer to think of them as pop rock.

so i just tried to share this video, and noticed there is no url to use, so i was like "bah oh well" and clicked around the little box a few times just for "fun" and i got a blue screen of death.

now i havent had one of these on my machine in about 2 years. so i dont know if it was a random occurrence, or if something sinister is going on behind that video feed.

That looks pretty tough if the short ingame clips are to be believed.

Mustaine is awesome though, not quite enough to tempt me with the rest of the game, but it's cool.
