Darwinia+ confirmed for Xbox Live Arcade photo

PC strategy/puzzle/weird game Darwinia has been teetering on the brink of an XBLA release for over a year. Now, finally, the game has finally pass certification and is now confirmed for an XBLA release. Phew!

Darwinia+ will bundle the four-year-old PC title with its multiplayer counterpart Multiwinia, and although no release date has been set, Introversion states it will appear "in the coming months." It was originally due to launch in 2008, but the developer assures fans that the delay was well spent.

"Darwinia+ on the Xbox is the best version of Darwinia we've ever made," claims Introversion, "the Director's Cut, the game as it would have been the first time around if only we'd had another two years to spend on it and were able to realize every single ambition we had for the project."

Funnily enough, I just started playing Darwinia last night, but I gave up when I couldn't make the little man do the thing. Did you make the little man do the thing, and if so, are you excited to make little men do things on the Xbox 360?

Darwinia+ XBLA cleared for release (finally) [CVG]

I loved Darwinia, I was thinking of buying Multiwinia but the servers seemed pretty much deserted on the trial version. I won't be making that mistake again which I made with Defcon another game that seems deserted as well.

hopefully they've fixed the fucking pathfinding in the game. I stopped playing on the PC because my units kept being retarded and not going where they were supposed to go.

I have Multiwinia on the PC, and it's pretty cool. It's also as minimalistic as you can get with an RTS.

I totally agree with you, there. I never actually beat the game because the final level was stupid. The tanks seemed to do fine, but the stupid Darwinia just kept spinning in circles.

The Darwinian's didn't HAVE pathfinding, you were supposed to manage them with multiple Officers. They were more like Lemmings in that regard.

I have bought this game 5 times now (UK version, NA version, gift, Steam, and seeing it all lonely in a bargain bin one day), looks like #6 is on the horizon.

Multiwinia is the most simple and fun RTS multiplayer ever. Get it.

I love Multiwinia, but yeah, don't buy it unless you get a couple of friends to get it also and play with you, the game really is deserted :/

I played the Darwinia demo a while back when it was first released. Will be buying this if the price is right.

Multiwinia is a fun little gem. The right mix of scale, speed and simplicity... Also has a surprising amount of depth if you tinker with things enough.

The problem with this game is that, while it may have more depth than it seems, and be based on gameplay rather than flashy graphics, it still isnt free.
After playing the old pc version a while ago, i have to ask myself;
Why in the world would you pay for this, instead for any of the other 100's of rts / strategy games that have ten times the content, gameplay depth, replay value, gfx, immersion, story....

You get my idea :P
I love indie games, but at some point you gotta analyze them for what they really are, even if they are cheap.

Yeah, I've had trouble with the pathfinding myself, but once you get passed that it's a great fun little game. Nice to hear it's coming to XBLA.
