UDON Entertainment is bringing back Darkstalkers to comics this January. The three issue miniseries follows Morrigan, Donovan, Pyron and Demitri as they fight for the control of Earth. New characters such as Q-Bee, Anakaris, Sasquatch and Huitzil will also show up in the comics.
Alvin Lee will be providing the cover art for the three issues which will form the one big image you see above when each issues is put side-by-side. Each issue will also have variant cover art by Emily Warren which will show off the women of Darkstalkers. The comic's story is written by Ken Siu-Chong and the artwork in the comic will be made by Joe Vriens and Eric Vedder.
More Dalkstalkers is great, but how about a new Darkstalkers games already Capcom?

Hamza Aziz, Destructoid's Community Director, has been here since day one. He was born when a tiger coughed up a hairball into a pool of ooze. He was one of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles before budget cuts. Hamza works as a previews editor and manages a team in San Francisco. To date he has given away tens of thousands of dollars in prizes to readers. What a dick. Actually, Hamza is as kind as he is hairy.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
More Darkstalkers in any form is good, I hope a bunch of people buy the comics to show Capcom that there is a fanbase out there so that they make a new game!
Who cares! More Darkstalkers! Thank you, Vampire Savior! This truly is the answer to my prayers!
I know, right? If it ain't Street Fighter, Tekken, or some other fighting game series with generic character designs that have been done over and over again, who cares?
Do people typically classify the characters from this series in this way? Maybe a couple have, but a lot of them I find (As a character designer) have a unique flair... certainly more so than the above mentioned titles.
Kinda glad we're getting an Udon comic first, since they're the guys that write the stuff that magically becomes canon in the game series.
If you were trying to say "Darkstalkers' character designs are unique while Street Fighter and Tekken is less so", then yeah - that's my point. I was using sarcasm, which unfortunately doesn't transmit well over the interwebs.
Everyone should pick Jedah over M.Bison any day of the week. And when it comes to Shoto-clones, Demitri and Morrigan are far more interesting than Ryu and Ken.
plus, their darkstalkers art is pretty damn awesome! THey just need to put Jedah in there!
No. Just no. Vampire has always been an OFFENSIVE style game, not the garbage that is SF4. Keep the art style cartoony, keep the action fast and SMOOTH. Vampire needs no "re-imagining"... it worked the way it was and requires no drastic change. If anything, making it less like SF and more like GG would be a plus. It can be argued that Vampire was a major inspiration to GG - don't betray that.
In fact, since Capcom can't be arsed to make THEIR OWN FLAGSHIP SERIES' LATEST ITERATION, they could just hand development of Vampire 4 over to Arc System Works and get the ball rolling.
For the record - I don't _hate_ Dimps, but Arcana Heart is NOT Street Fighter.
Yeah, Vampire series was a clear inspiration for Arc's fighters (as well as the Marvel vs Capcom series, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, Melty Blood and God knows how many other titles), and any sequel series should reflect that.
I really do wish Capcom would just sell the Vampire property to Arc System Works. God knows, Capcom wouldn't do anything with it. At least commission Arc to do it, a la Sengoku Basara X.
