Videogames love prequel novels, and Darksiders is no exception. Random House is publishing Darksiders: The Abomination Vault in May, set to coincide with the release of Darksiders II. According to the PR machine, the book will take place millennia before the events of the original game.
"In Darksiders: The Abomination Vault, the Horsemen of the Apocalypse (beings charged with maintaining the Balance between the forces of Heaven and Hell) have uncovered a plot to resurrect ancient weapons of unimaginable power," says the spiel. "Death, with the help of his compatriot War, must track down and neutralize the mysterious individuals behind the scheme before the entire universe is plunged into a devastating conflict."
In addition to a novel, an "IP bible" is also in the works, stuffed full of tasty lore.
Books are cool, and I'm a total sucker for books of lore. Sounds good to me!

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
@article: I will grab the lore book.
@sayword: yes you can. My mgs art book learned that the hard (get it? HARD) way. Poor fatman....
Also, since they've exhausted the two coolest(arguably) Horsemen of the Apocalypse™, instead of having a Darksiders 3 and 4 with Conquest(Pestilence) and Famine respectively, how about the next game be a 4-player online co-op affair with all 4 Horsemen playable? Since it seems as there would (probably) be no one left to kill, they'd have to make it a spin-off or side-story. Am I the only one who want's this?
COME AT ME BRO
@Mark Mann: I wouldn't say better, but on-par for sure. Darksiders is one of my favorite Zelda games of all times.
COME AT ME BRO
@mr sexy andy... Since your giving me permission sure!
I love darksiders, but that game is not deserving of any exploration of it's lore.
