I'll be honest with you here: I had barely even heard of Darksiders: Wrath of War before I posted this video. When I don't know a game well, I check the official site out and then check to see if any other articles have been posted on Destructoid about the title. Lo and behold, Jim Sterling posted some screens last month, and after reading up on Darksiders, I found myself pretty intrigued.

The video above actually allows you to hear some background information from the developers, and there is some cool stuff here, especially getting a gander at some enemies you will be fighting -- those suckers are huge! I love me some epic scale. I also think Diablo fans will be seduced by the art style and music, which has that rich darkness that makes this sort of title so much fun to get lost in.

Darksiders: Wrath of War will be released for Xbox 360 and PS3 and is due out sometime in 2009. Do want!

We set this live prematurely - the video is still processing. Should be fixed in a sec.

Damn that video was amazing. I rarely get this excited about a game pre-release (I avoid hype like the plague) but this game has me wetting my pants in anticipation. I literally cannot play it soon enough.

Man how has this game not been on my radar. I especially loved the scene when you jump on the flaming horse. It looks like its got some awesome cinematics. I cant wait.

Fun action; no depth. Is Michael Bay directing?

I'm intrigued. If they can pull off the open world/concentrated action like they say they can, I'm sold. Call me crazy, but I feel like that would make the game's structure more like Zelda or (and this is a bit of a stretch) Shadow of the Colossus than that linear bullshit I'm so sick of. Assuming this isn't just baseless hype, or their definition of "open" differs from that of Webster's, this might just be the first game to bring me back to third person action games since God of War. I also like the more creative art style on display, but character design wise, I wish they would've gone with something a little less "big badass guy is big and badass". It is a rather creative take on big-badass guy, but the overcompensation in male characters displayed in a majority of videogames is starting to irk me. Why do all male characters either end up dickless and feminine or GRAH ME WANT CRUSH? Whatever, at least we have Valve.

DO WANT

Surprised no one mentioned this game before. Can't wait to play it. It was on my list of Do Want games since I heard of it back a a few months ago. I mean...who wouldn't want to play as one of the 4 Horsemen of the Apocalypse?

In case you guys are wondering, the guy you play as in the game is War, one of the 4 Horsemen. I heard if this game does really well, they'll do another game related to another one of the Horsemen. I would love to play as Death...but War is still bad ass in my book.

Its going to suck.

There I said it. I've spoken your deepest fear.

Now continue with your mindless rants about how great it might be; Rants that will, with time, turn into those of how great it could have been.

My concern is that they may have spread themselves too thin. This "open yet cinematic world" concept sounds like they may be trying to do too much at once rather than focusing on fewer elements and making them exceptional.

That being said, I'm eager to hear how the game turns out.

Looks like an RPG that removes the unnecessary quests and storyline elements and replaces it with good ole combat action/puzzlers.

This looks like it has definite potential.

Joe Mad being involved is what's selling me on this game. this is what took him away from comics. i want to see what he's been up to the last 5-10 years. (oh, and it does look pretty good inandofitself)

I have to agree, this game does look high on the sweetness potential. And I also loved the horse mount, pretty cool!

Looks like a God of War knockoff, but at least a good knockoff. This may be able to hold me over until God of War 3 comes out.
