Darksiders patch coming this Wednesday photo

Darksiders was a superb game. Not only did it get a 9.0 in its very own Destructoid review, it was also clinically proven to be better than Zelda. However, it was not perfect, especially with regards to some rather shameful screen-tearing issues. Fortunately, Darksiders is going to get just that bit better thanks to Wednesday's patch!

The patch will be for the Xbox 360 version of the game, and will arrive as an automatic update for anybody firing the game up. That should resolve any problems with the screen-tearing, although other reported glitches, such as game freezing, haven't been mentioned.

A few PS3 users have reported their own graphical issues, but again, this hasn't been addressed as of yet. Still, the screen-tearing on the 360 was definitely the biggest hiccup, so it's good to see that being resolved, even if it's taken its sweet-ass time.

Darksiders patch coming this week [Darksiders blog, thanks Donnie]

here is an issue that needs to be patched... the enemies do too much damage, and the dodge mechanic is a piece of shit. Tell me, whats the point of dodging when the attack of the enemy has a greater attack radius than the length of your dodge?

Will it make evading... you know, a useful button?

@covah: I beat the game on Apocalyptic on my first playthrough and never the dodge to be underwhelming in any ways. If you're having trouble avoiding attacks (especially those ethereal wraiths), use your charged boomerang on them and hack away.

Awesome game, but a bit short on replay value. Got my platinum with less than 20 hours of work.

Will it make the game interesting?

Seriously, Darksiders bored the hell out of me. I don't see why everyone is all over this game.

I might actually bother finishing the game if theyll promise to fix those crashes. I really dont feel like going for a fourth crash and restart. I agree with covah on the dodge system. That button wouldve been better served to have War sing I Feel Pretty at least then the joke would be intentional. Also patch war's horrendously slow walking speed

I didn't have any trouble with the dodging. In fact I found it to be the most useful defense, more useful than the block or counter.

@LoopholeJumper some people noted white lines or noticeable texture jaggies on your console so that is being fixed for you.

For us 360 owners, the screen tearing wasn't a gamebreaker but it was quite noticeable in places

@Tyler that is really not saying much seeing as block was useless and rarely worked because it required you to remain motionless to do it and even then you still took damage and countering worked on the same mechanic as block but is even more picky. The dodge at least worked on some attacks from some enemies but could not be used reliably to get away from most attacks

Sweet, I'm playing through on the hardest difficulty after beating it on normal, and the screen tearing is really starting to get annoying. Good to see it's getting fixed.

I just completed the game on Apocalyptic, and dodge worked great for me. Some attacks are meant to be dodged by dodging to the side (thrusts), other attacks need a reverse dodge (wide slashes). Other attacks are more easily blocked.

Great game, I thought. The story was really crappy though, and was told poorly. So there were times I did not feel compelled to play the game. But the gameplay was solid.

I wonder if the 360 has a higher frame rate though? I thought my PS3 Darksiders was kinda low in that department.

It doesn't seem silly to anybody else that a game can have screen tearing and yet get a 9.0? Come on the game isn't that hot when it does work. So congratulations on the highest score I've ever seen for a game which is essentially a collection of rip-offs that doesn't even play correctly.

I really like this game, just wish they would remove the animation at the end of the dash button so I could SPAM IT! Other than that I think the games fine.

I don't have any issues with the screen tearing, because the framerate on xbox is pretty solid. Obviously they left vsync off on xbox, and the ps3 is probably locked at 30fps. Now so many people are bitching about it they may be forcing it on us, gg. I wish every game would give us the option like bioshock did...

also, dodge is much more effective when you're not target-locking
