If the box art for Darkest Days didn't convince you that time traveling is sweet, maybe the newest trailer for the game will. As we've probably explained to you ad nauseum by now, Darkest of Days is about time traveling to different periods of time and shooting stuff. There's more than likely a lot more to the story, but as you can see in the trailer it's mostly about shooting people from different time periods.

Outside of the premise I'm not too sure if the game is shaping up to be anything truly remarkable. This "highlight" reel certainly doesn't show off anything but a bunch of run-and-gun fun. Those Civil War soldiers don't stand much of a chance against that modern machine gun, now do they? Run-and-gun is of course always welcome around these parts, but we do like to shake things up a bit every once in a while. Besides, Serios Sam HD should take care of our run-and-gun needs for a while now. I wonder if this is how you teleport from time period to time period.

Watching the video I was thinking.. okay.... okay.... okay.... okay... WAIT. Shooting people in Pompeii/Herculaneum with guns? Guns with laser-guides? WAITADAMNMINUTE.

(probably will still buy it, though... it looks alright)

I don't get it how people think this idea is stupid i for one think its fking genius. I love the idea of time unraveling and people having to fix it. It reminds me of the old Cartoon Network show Time squad.

This game's demo is excellent.

You know how you would sit there in high school like "I wonder what this war would be like with a few marines and futuristic weaponry?"

The answer: awesome.

It looks so bad. Great idea, but jeez. He's just standing there in front of a whole squad and he's barely taking damage. The demo wasn't very impressive either. Definitely passing this one up.

I agree with Temple - this game looks unpolished as hell. The graphics look okay but the game play looks like it belongs in 2001. Especially when he was shooting the Native Americans on the horses - the animation of the enemies falling over looked terrible. Plus, all the enemies look identical. It looks like an upgrade of that terrible civil-war education game "Gods and Generals". There's probably a reason why this game has had such a low profile despite being so close to release. It looks like a rush job.

The enemies look as if they have almost no tactic other than "stand in the open" - come on, in real life, if your enemy is a few metres away, and you've just fired your one shot from your musket rifle, you don't stand like an idiot reloadig - you charge at them. That's what they did in the civil war (there was a lot of close-quarters combat you know).

Almost certainly will not be buying this.

Is it just me, or does nobody seem to notice you're there?

I downloaded the demo after seeing a few posts on Dtoid hyping it up and it was fucking awful.

I played the demo and enjoyed it despite a couple of shortcomings. For a budget title though it's pretty bitchin'.
