Dark Void is out for PS3 and Xbox 360 very soon, but Capcom isn't satisfied with restricting its Rocketeer freedom fighters to home consoles. Dark Void Zero is coming to the Nintendo DS, but it's not going to bring Vertical Cover and crazy, 360 degree dogfights to the portable system -- instead, it looks exactly like Mega Man.
Dark Void Zero is a remake of an unreleased 8-Bit game that served as Dark Void's inspiration. It'll be hitting the DSiWare service and should be a pretty neat little retro experience. Check out the screens and the brand new trailer. It's pretty good stuff!

I really dig this retro revival we are having. So long as the games are good. 198X was a good year. :-P
Developers need to keep in mind that the crash of the 80s was due to the market being flooded with crappy games...of course I guess that is not necessarily limited to retro style games.
Other companies should learn a lesson from this. When you put your AAA title on to the DS don't try to retain all the graphics and elements the Xbox or PS3 versions have. Have fun with it, make it something new.
oh.......my god......, i don't even have a ds, and i want to play this games, PUT IT ON THE XBL/PSN PLSEASE, sell it for 10 bucks and consider me sold!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh nice! I was wondering if big name developers would ever release awesome stuff like this for dsiware. Hopefully this does good and inspires other developers to make more stuff like this.
Nope. The joke is that this game was lost to time as newer hardware emerged. Once the 360/PS3 version was being made, it was decided to revive the original version so that it may finally be completed.
i would love to play this. but i only have a ds lite. and im not buying another ds. id buy it if it was a full retail release, or if they put it on xbla/psn...that would be great
Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Oh, and I don't think it really looks like Mega Man at all. Id say it looks like a dozen other NES games before MM.
Separately, makes me wish I had a DSi. :(

Anyway, for thos wondering: they made the backstory up. This isn't an 80s game, it's a demake prequel made to garner interest.
