We've all been going a little Capcom crazy thanks to the company's slew of excitingannouncements, but getting lost in the news was the revelation of Dark Void, a brand new game from the house of Ryu that got overlooked mainly because there was no real information to go on.
A trailer, however, makes a world of difference and what do you know? It's a dark, gritty sci-fi game ... wow, we've never seen one of THOSE before. I hope the main character is angst-ridden, because it's been ages since we've had a guy like that in a videogame. Sarcasm is the highest form of wit, by the way.
Rampant cynicism aside, it does look like Dark Void could be fun, as it essentially seems to be a game about throwing men in masks around and wearing a jetpack -- two of my favorite things in the whole world. Hopefully there are enough original gameplay elements and flying saucers to make up for a backdrop that's become all-too familiar.

Meet the rest of the team
I agree with Heretic, the first half of the trailer has nothing to do with the gameplay half. Random shots of statues, including some stony boobies, really helped me get in the zone for the sci fi, jet pack bollocks that was to come.
Guy with Jetpack actually manages to look fairly optimistic about his situation. I'm banking on him being something mundane like a chef, but ends up on this adventure because . . . he's the only guy with a jetpack . . . in the future . . .
Also, racist against light goggle bad guys. After Killzone, these people shouldn't have to suffer violence against them. Doesn't matter if it takes place in magical space with out oxygen.
The first half of the trailer made me think pseudo modern day world gets taken over by aliens and you fight on a global scale setting. But, no. It's just a mildly steam-punk inspired futuristic sci-fi game.
Looks like it has potential, if only for the apparent game mechanic where the ships do not have internal gravity as seen by him hanging and jumping from those otherwise would be walls. That could add enough depth right there to at least warrant a rental in my book.
Looks fun, kind of. I know I'm in the minority here, but I'm gettig really bored with this recycled tone and art direction, can we please move past the angst ridden muscle head in a gritty cruel world.
Having recently seen the amazing Tekkon Kinkreet, I have to say that it's tiresome to see yet another game coloured with the same palettes of Colbolt 'gritty sci-fi' blue, or dusty 'gritty sci-fi' ochre. Snap out of lads, go listen to Sgt Pepper, or buy an ice cream from the ice cream man or something, just loosen up and let your creative juices flow, for the love of Buddha let them flow.

I'm just trying to figure out who's this game being racist too?!?

Its the imagery that hurts, not the context.

But damn, capcom's been kicking ass lately.
