Dark Void delayed, will hit in 2010 photo

Dark Void is no longer scheduled to hit in September 2009. Earlier this morning Capcom announced that the shooter is sliding to an equally crowded Q4 in order to avoid competition -- whatever competition is left -- and to give developer Airtight Games the opportunity to put a few extra touches on the title. Bummer.

Here’s the official wording (via Kotaku):

Dark Void is moving into Capcom's fiscal Q4 in order to get the game out of the crowded fall game season and to allow the development team more time to polish and enhance the game experience.

Capcom’s fiscal Q4 starts January 1, 2010 and ends on March 31, 2010 so it may be wise to fold your excitement and stick it in your back pocket for a while. Or take your glee and super focus it on Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. That’s what every publisher expects you to do anyway.

Now all of these Q1 2010 games are going to be released simultaneously and all have shitty sales.

Stop delaying my games! I don't want to spent my first quarter of school this year actually doing schoolwork!

I know Modern Warfare 2 is going to be awesome and that, but seriously, is there something like a line of crack with it too or something? I'm not going to want MW2 and ONLY MW2 all Q4 2010!

@FawkAndSuck

No. MW2 is the reason half of these games are being delayed.

Christ, if this continues we might see that titles originally slated for Q1 2010 release will be delayed. And for the record, there are TONS of titles that where aimed towards a 2010 release, even before all these delays started. Wich means we might see alot of anticipated games delayed to 2011.

Sigh...

Activision has a surefire hit on their hands and everyone else is running and screaming in the opposite direction.

I don't know about this one, it might be another Bionic Commando.

Maybe, but they(capcom) absorbed the Crimson Skies team and they have been developing the flight mechanics for this game. That may not amount to much in the long run, but I have high hopes.

Not at all surprised at this, especially since we haven't seen anything resembling pre-launch hype of this for a while. I'm still really looking forward to it, though.

Seriously though, what's going on. This is the third company to come out of a delay saying they're pushing back for polish. Its almost exact boilerplate. Is it because one company did it, and they don't want thier investors to think their not getting top quality movement from their investment?

It weird, kinda shady, and I can't believe its really for the sake of quality, all of a sudden...

Red Dead Redemption, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Singularity, and Dark Void all delayed till Q4. The ONLY game I was looking forward to coming out this year that's still planned to come out on time is Borderlands. I thought I was going to have something to play this fall, but I guess the industry wants to hit us with everything at once like they always do.

I'm glad for this actually. Now I really only have to look for three games this fall; Brutal Legend, Borderlands, and MW2.

Pushing this back hopefully means that they'll iron out any issues that they might run into and I also have the chance to save up a little more scrilla' before year's end.

Oh well, whenever something delays it just means I have more time to spend with Brütal Legend, so I'm not complaining.

Though I'm pretty sure everyone is complaining when January 1 - March 31 hits since every goddamn game is there and none of them sell even decently.
Wohoo, wise decisions for everyone.

Even if they are all just trying to avoid the christmas glut then at least we're going to get a run of really polished games next year.

They delayed so many games that 2010 became overcrowded!

So, not much competition for GOTY 2009 eh? Perhaps game publishers are gonna chalk up this year as a loss, take the tax cut and then eat the cake in 2010.
