Don't be Ubisoft.
Nah, he's just trollin.
Speaking of, I must put my master race signature on this ballot to help further the good cause. Hopefully they are smart enough to throw it on steam.
Also, if they optimized it the game would look amazing.
PR Guy: Hey, what if someone pirated Dark Souls?
From Soft: Well, we make an invisible AI that kills people in one hit, sending them all the way to the back of the game, with no armor, swords, and 25% less campfires. and all of the bosses are 50% Stronger
PR: EXCELLENT.
The difficulty adds realism to the game: true adventure and a sense of danger. If you want realism in games this is the route to go, not the LA Noire "Hollywood replica" route.
On 4chan yeah, nobody here though.
It's not going to happen - Namdai are going to be terrified of piracy.
I think you missed this article. If PC games are a money sink, the sink is huge and clogged and money is pouring out all over the freaking floor.
In any case, almost 50,000 people expressing interest in your product at $50 - 60 each is nothing to sneeze at. The difficulty is determining if that $2.5 - 3 million in probable revenue is worth the cost of porting the game to PC.
Namco Bandai have practically no PC experience, so they'd likely have to outsource the port. If they ran the math and could come up with a finished product for $1 - 1.5 million, it makes good sense. I would call this an opportunity for Nixxes (Lara Croft & The Guardian of Light, Deus Ex: Human Revolution) or a similar experienced porting team.
Beneficial for whom?
For PC gamers, this would mean access to a great game.
For From, it would mean access to a market that LOVES hardcore RPGs, and which currently happens to be the largest single video game market (even with all the piracy).
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/07/05/pcgaming-trends-2011/ - Gives you some more background on the current size of the PC market. Keep in mind that the "Console" category includes all current and past home consoles AND handhelds. Also, the PC digital and PC retail categories do NOT include the social network market, the casual website market, or the MMO market.
Anyhow please confirm?
King Field is a pretty slow game, however it has a very old school flavor to it. Kind of feels like a roguelike. I find them pretty enjoyable though, so long as you can get used to the controls and mechanics. The PS2 game looks much better than the others, but i havent sunk much time into it to say its too much different from the first few.
What determines a game is purely for PC or console? Input method? Target audience?
If the team porting the game is skilled enough, it should make no difference.
Yes, because it's not as if publishers actually think the PC is a haven for piracy to the point that every major gaming site seems to report on someone from Publisher X making that claim once a day and twice on Sundays, is it? It's just that crazy old troll Jim Sterling stirring people up again!
Oh, wait.
