"Might" have a problem? The vast majority of Best Buy stores didn't get in a single copy of the CE at all! That isn't an oversold problem, that's Namco flat out not even making enough for every store. Way to fuck it up Namco.
I'm glad i only now am getting the chance ro play Demon's Souls. Maybe by the time i finish it and a ton of other games, Dark Souls will be freely available.
I had pre-ordered it from amazon for the limited edition however when I checked my order for some reason last week it was no longer listed as the limited edition and it was also the wrong platform so i had to cancel it. I was not impressed.
I originally had a pre-order through Future Shop here in Canada. They didn't get sent enough CEs either.
Best Buy Canada on the other hand, reportedly has enough stock to cover their preorders AND some extras. At least through their website. So I cancelled my FS order and switched to BB.
Though I am half tempted to just say screw it and go buy a reg edition, sounds like the CE stuff isn't worth the hassle.

I had the CE preordered at Amazon and it has shipped, but I went to Kmart and bought a normal edition which came with a $20 coupon. CE is going up on ebay.
killias2 is right about the art book. I opened mine for the first time and virtually all the pages came unglued from the cover. Luckily they are all still stuck together to each other but WTF kind of skimping has Namco done for this "Collector's Edition" anyway??? I hope From won't go with them in the future. (They won't need to because these last two games have solidified their incredible talent for delivering high-quality and unique RPG awesomenss in the face of a stagnating genre).

My gamestop pre-order was in stock as well... I'm more disappointed that most of my collector's edition material (mini-strategy guide, OST, behind-the-scenes videos) are all digital download. I got the impression from the game's site that they'd all be physical copies. ::sad panda face::
I've had mine preordered from Amazon in May. It just showed up today, and it's the Collectors Edition. Yay!

I'm also having download problems with my CE. I've only managed to get the guide pdf, map pdf, and part 1 of the behind the scenes videos lol. Everything else just stops in the middle of the download. Maybe Atlus should have published this like they did for Demon's Souls.

Its not a shortage on copies, its a shortage on special editions (basically every single game preordered). They never had that amount of C.E anyways...
I'm from an overseas retailer, and TODAY I was informed that they wouldnt send me C.E's since they only shipped those to mayor retailers AND they were only allowing any single person only up to 2 preorders of the game.
I have customers who preordered the game expecting an upgrade to the C.E and NOW they tell me they wont send it?

When I picked up my Rage pre-order at Best Buy today, I also went over to get Dark Souls. At first I couldn't find any and the woman there tried to tell me it was a PS3 Exclusive. After informing her she was wrong, she looked it up and they had 12 in the store somewhere. She finally found the box in the back and got me a copy. So odd...
got my preordered ps3 and 360 copies from gamestop though they did tell me that they had run out except for preorders. Also got the guide I preordered... I'm obsessed but it's ok. Demon's Souls is my favorite game. I own 4 different versions of it lol

Just grabbed my CE preorder from gamestop. Back when the Deus Ex debacle was going down, I cancelled all my preorders with gamestop except this since the CE was supposed to be a limited deal. Looks like that was a really good decision in retrospect.
I *just* (literally moments ago) got my email from shopto dot net saying they've taen the money for my pre-order - hopefully it will arrive tomorrow, if not should be here thursday (UK release is Friday).

I just got back from Fry's Electronics with a regular copy of Dark Souls for $50. I canceled my pre-order from Amazon (which I made as soon as I knew this game existed on June 14th, before the free upgrade to the collector's edition). It sucks to have made a pre-order 4 months before the game comes out and be excluded from the first round of shipping.
i got it earlier today with no pre order at a gamestop, its so damn good and ive only put a hour into it, EVERYONE should play this.
All this does, no matter who's fault it is (Namco's or the Retailers), is punish the customer. Its hard to really even tell who's completely at fault in all this considering the stories are so off. Many cases seem to point to Namco for being spiteful about the orders being taken wrong, and cutting off the supply completely, when on the other hand it sounds like its the retailers faults for overselling... But overall its like no one had control over what was going on.
Hope stuff like this never happens again, it just sounds so frustrating. Here's for hoping Arkham City doesn't have problems a few weeks from now.

I called amazon today. Said if I don't receive my order by 7pm I should call back. I figure ill try to get the same $10 credit like others have, since this is pretty annoying. I literally pushed myself to the limit to finish demon's souls over the weekend just so I can feel ready for dark souls.
Oh, and I got the CE too, but after hearing that its mostly digital, I lost a lot of interest, and rather just want my copy. I wish Atlus published this instead. They are great with pre-order bonuses, and the like.

I picked up a regular copy at Bestbuy this morning Around 11:00am. It's a shame that Bandai didn't make enough to cover pre-orders and screwed over Best Buy and NewEgg like that.

The clear slip cover was stuck to the metal case with giant, residue-leaving, stickers that were a pain in the ass to get off.
The art book is basically the worst art book I've ever seen with a game. The art itself is awesome, but the printing is crappy (WAYYY too dark and on BLACK backgrounds) and the binding is weak at best. Also, there is ZERO commentary or explanation in the book and not a SINGLE word of text or labels. It's nothing but pictures printed in a book with no though put into it.
I have yet to try downloading the digital stuff, and I think I'll hold off a bit until they get that shit sorted out, too.
I, for one, would have GREATLY preferred it if they had scrapped the art book altogether and gave us a PHYSICAL strategy guide like the one for the first game. And it's balls-to-the-wall retarded that the CE edition pictures on all the shopping sites had PHYSICAL copies of everything in the picture. "Here is what you get! Except for those three things in the middle. Yeah, they're made-up."
Namco sucked it up HARD on this one. And, while I realize that the upgrade was free, I have such a huge backlog of games that I wouldn't have gotten Dark Souls day one if it didn't look like it would have an awesome CE.

I just wish Atlus publish this since "digital" is not how they roll. Namco could've at least put the digital contents in a dvd instead of having us DL it. Oh, and did I say you could only once. I've only managed to DL the mini guide. The other DLs kept getting broken and have a DL time of 9hrs!!!! O.o
To everyone having trouble downloading the CE stuff, there are torrents out there. Probably links on filehosting sites as well.
