It's true. My copy has not shipped yet. I contacted Amazon and got a $10 credit. Same with a friend of mine who got a $5 credit. I saw someone on another site who contacted Amazon and got a $10 credit.
They haven't even shipped my copy yet. If I get it by Friday, I'll be shocked. If it's actually the Collector's Edition, I'll be even more shocked.

Wow! I ended up cancelling my pre-order because it seemed like not being able to play it with an online connection would have been far more of a detriment this time around than it is with Demon Souls, so you're welcome to whomever got my copy!
I just flipped through the art book that came with the collectors edition. If every creature and beastie in that thing is in the game, I will be quite impressed. There are some seriously twisted looking creations in there

I just got a delay notice from Amazon. While browsing/cursing the site i noticed Dark Souls sitting pretty at #1 on the PS3 chart. Too bad i can't have it :(
Add Amazon (tentatively) to this list. I'm sure many people are getting release date delivery on this, but mine is being "delayed". No real information why. But I pay $80/year for Amazon Prime SPECIFICALLY for shipping benefits/perks, so you can be damn sure they're going to hear it from me about this.
So I licked out with my ce at GameSpot :) a lot of people complaining that they pre ordered collectors and didnt get it I walked up and got mine. I left happy.
Wow, I feel very fortunate to have snagged a collector's edition from Gamestop now that my Amazon preorder is all messed up. I guess I'll just get a refund or something.

Currently I don't know what to believe. I have uncancelable "shipping soon" status on Amazon with an expected delivery date of today, though they refunded my $1 for RDD. It sounds like B&M stores have plenty of non CE copies, though.

I think that should teach publishers to not overdo it with the "free upgrade to Magnificent edition with Pre-order" thing,or at least put a limit on it,be it date or stock limit.

This is one place where Gamestop really shined, everyone at my midnight got their pre order. I'm not GS's biggest fan but they came through here.
Yeah, I'm almost tempted to see this as a good thing. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely sympathize with you guys that are having problems getting a copy and hope you get that cleared up as soon as possible. It's just nice to hear that the game is selling well enough to have supply problems in the first place.
Hopefully they won't have the same problem when it's released in Europe in a few days

Namco Bandai probably thought that they wouldn't sell that many copies of Dark Souls, so that's why they didn't bother to ship out that many.

I believe there was a certain deadline to meet to get the CE in the first place. Only pre-ordering ahead of that date got you the CE.

Well I went to go preorder last week at GameStop and they were no longer taking them on the PS3 version. Seems like demand is outpacing supply at the moment.
Namco really paid NO attention to the word of mouth that spread the Demon's Souls love all around I guess, let alone all of the critical acclaim?? And this game ups the ante in every possible way and they STILL don't ship more copies? This is beyond retarded. First they digitize half the Collector's Edition then they can't even meet supply?? Fuck them.
You did not need a preorder for LE. it was for the majority of the first pressings. The store I went to had plenty of Limited Editions.

Newegg cancellec my limited edition because they didn't have them so I was trying to get the regular edition but they don't have that either. Namco Bandai made this release a cluster fuck I have to say. I'll wait till maybe tomorrow or friday to get a copy. Should have let Atlus handled the game From Software.
well, i love it when this history repeats itself. demon's souls was a run-away success, they should have known dark souls was gonna top even that based on word of mouth alone from all the demon's fans.
Hmm... with all the hype this game has been getting on sites and with how well demon's souls did, you would think Namco would have planned better. Then again this is Namco we are talking about. My husband's order on Amazon shipped so he is getting his copy. Sorry to hear people might not be getting their copy. :(
Hopefully this problem won't be true for the UK! Ordered special edition from HMV for £35...bargain of the century?
@Bluejuan - Atlus USA is keeping Demon's Souls servers up at great expense for the fans, I don't know if they could handle Dark Souls as well.
They probably would have handled the pre-order stuff better, though. Not that I can complain too much. Dark Souls isn't really a OST to work or drive to.

@Shinta: Yeah, I just talked to them. I was basically like, "Other people are getting 10 dollars. I want it too." And the lady was fine with that. I am also hovering on "Shipping Soon" without any idea of what that means...
After reading this, I called the best buy that I pre-ordered the game through, and sure enough, they don't have any collectors editions. but I feel like the $20 gift card is worth more to me that the extra stuff that comes with the collectors edition anyways.
I'd also like to point out a couple other screw ups:
1. Apparently, people with CE's are having all sorts of issues. The downloadable content seems to rarely work correctly, and there has been NO response from ANYONE connected with Dark Souls. Also, I guess the art book has a tendency to.. fall apart. Literally.
2. The PrepareToDie contest alluded to above has been a complete and utter shit show. They keep changing the contest, and they don't tell anyone anything. Right now, I'm in 6th place. You need to be 5th place to win. However, the contest was supposed to end last night, when I was in 4th place. Also, 3 of the top 5 are non-Americans. This is supposed to be exclusive to American participants. Are they in the running or not? If they're not, then I don't want to gamble my positioning in order to get into the top 5 because the top 5 doesn't matter. If they are, then there's absolutely no reason for me not to gamble, as I'm quite close to the top 5. Yet, again, NO INFORMATION AT ALL and no responses at all about a months long contest that was supposed to be over last night.
Shit show. All around. It's like the community outreach people all took today off, even as every single component of their launching strategy is in flames. I've even heard issues about the servers not working right....

Thank goodness I pre-ordered on Amazon 10 days before pre-orders were even available! Phew! Too bad Namco/Bandai/Crapware digitized all the "Limited Edition" content. They ain't no Atlus... that's for sure.
The only advantage of living in a place where Walmart is the only reasonable place to buy video games, is that when we do get games, they do not sell out.
