If you're becoming impatient the October 4 release date of Dark Souls, the Japanese webpage for Dark Souls has a few goodies to hold you over for a bit
From Software's page has been updated with music samples from the game's soundtrack. We're not talking a couple of little turdy teasers, either. There's 23 samples here to check out, and they all sound like you're about to get eaten, or you're on fire or something. Here's a fun thing to try: Imagine yourself about to die in-game and then listen to each sample. Doesn't each make it seem like you're going to die really soon? Every track sounds like the end of the world! All of the selections are orchestral, scary and packed with wailing choirs, but track 22 in particular is like ffffffffffffuuu.
On the same page you'll find a world map that you can zoom into and look at. It's a smaller digital version of the one that will be packed in with the Japanese release.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Because that Corgi is invading Dale's game.
just hope its longer and more difficult
I think they got rid of the central hub for this game.
holy shit i need to save for this game :)
the music is scary and horrifying. but i won't hear anymore of them. might spoil me.
cannot wait for this :P
*don't forget to pick up Deus Ex HR this upcoming tuesday :P
No central hub? Sounds central hub-esque at least. Kinda like the harp track from Demon's Souls. Wonder where that will play!
It was interesting just how sparingly Demon's Souls used music. Each boss had a theme along with the central hub. The areas themselves were silent. Really effective use of audio, I think.
