Dante's Inferno just sprung a massive leak, and now it's squirted news juice all over our clean white shirts! A poster at NeoGAF has revealed a load of downloadable content details for Visceral's upcoming game. The package will be called "Trials of St. Lucia" and the offerings are surprisingly good.
The game's first batch of DLC will include a co-op mode, where a second player will presumably take on the role of St. Lucia. Not only that, but a fully customizable mission maker will be offered, allowing players to craft their own Hellish levels for Dante to endure. For a single-player game published by EA, that's surprisingly good!
A trailer for the DLC has also been leaked. We've provided it after the jump, since we don't think it'll last very long, especially as the footage may well have come from an illegally obtained copy of the game. Check that out, mull over these details, and let us know what you think of this hot DLC.
aside from the obvious concern that this content should have been included from the beginning, this stuff sounds really cool. definitely something different than God of War/Bayonetta/Ninja Gaiden.
wait you will be able to make your own levels? now i'm interested in this game as long as there will be a way to download stages made by other players.
Truth be told, I have to agree with Flesh on this to a degree. There is the possibility that they could have put it on the disc. There is also the possibility that this won't be finished by the time the game comes out (depending on how complicated the mission maker us). But it does bug me that DLC is being made this early on where it could possibly put on disc instead of as DLC, which by the way they should since it would differentiate Inferno from God of War a bit from the very start.
Wow... That is actually pretty impresive.
And people should stop complaining about DLC on the disc when its not the case. Obviously this was leaked, is not completed and they are still working on it. It is not like the extra characters in Soul Calibur or the extra costumes in Street Fighter IV, which where created, promoted and sold at the same time as the game...
Also, DLC takes time, it is not uncommon that a team works on it while other team is finishing the game, or that the calendar of DLC is decided before the game is released.
thats bananas!!! was not expecting that. at all. if god of war 3 has it as well, i will be less impressed, since it's just another mimic move. we've all heard the term "thats just the icing on the cake". well, the dante's inferno demo, is just the friggin' invitation, to party. THANK YOU GOD!!! I CAN FINALLY STOP PLAYING ASS DEFECTS 2.
I will be Paying and playing this game for its on disc content, that is all. The story is something I am happy to see coming to this media, This co-op is a nice thing and so is the player made arena thing but I am not looking for that. I am looking to play an epic story with a new age twist. That alone makes this game a buy for me. God of Wars story never struck me I guess.
Looks baller. The game that's shipping to stores has been done for awhile; throwing "this could have been on the disc" stuff around is kind of silly, considering. Should it have? Maybe. But given their development and time constraints, maybe it couldn't have been included. And I'd rather them provide me with the option than not. Pricing is a concern, always, of course. But it does look like a great addition to the game, and having played quite a bit of the game, I think the combat might be solid enough to keep this interesting for awhile. Like I said, looks baller.
My post is not to say that this DLC is a good idea if the co-op works. This is one, if not the only, way to 1-up the God of War series, because I think there is little doubt that GoW set the bar and is the standard.
That being said, Ive been in testing sessions for game company's testing DLC content months before the game hits the shelves. I know there is a time frame for printing disks and distribution but, its the way of thinking when you approach that situation. Cutting out content and offering it for DLC can bring obvious problems for a games initial sales results. Especially when it gets reviewed and gets knocked for being too short. Well everyone doesnt know about upcoming DLC, and when they hear about it, they are pissed that it wasn't included in the game; especially when it hits launch day or even a month after. And in many cases, the DLC wasnt anything more than a few sprites and code lines to begin with.
In my opinion, and its always open to criticism, the footage from that trailer, that details DLC releasing about 3 months from now, seemed pretty complete. As complete as a few seconds should be. But all the monsters are already in the game. All you need is the user interface and that didnt delay games like Halo 3(the forge) too much if I remember.
A level editor on a 3rd person actioner that isn't about level editing? Kinda cool, really, and reasonable as DLC: Not everyone's looking to make levels and a premium for that sort of extended functionality doesn't sound too unreasonable to me.
@ nick chester. THIS IS NOT AN ATTACK. yo fam, you ought to stop using slang and "cool urban" terms b. "looks baller"? wtf?? even in the hood, baller is a dude who play basket ball. or has money like an nba player. it doesn't mean "cool or good". so if your saying it looks expensive, or like it can jam you up in the post, ok...but that would still sound stupid. i'm sure if i were butchering the nerdy gamer terminology, to shreds, you would correct me. i hope someone would. you should let me proof read all your post with any slang terms in 'em. i got you son. namean nahsayin?
Oh man this DLC not being on the Disc argument again...
God forbid companies should try and make some money. Sure, if the game is half assed and you have to pay for DLC to get the full experience...then that is something that is not on and should be discouraged at all costs.
But if the game offers you a fulfilling, fun and whole experience....why shouldnt companies offer DLC later down the track..even if its been developed close to or during the games dev cycle?
Oh thats right, because Gamers deserve to have things given to them for free all the time, and its not like the Devs need to be paid, or the studio's remain solvent at all.
@360COMIC both interpretations of the slang are valid. Aside from Ghost Summa, baller has some prevalence in the the DC/Maryland/Virginia area as something around "that which has attributes desirable to one whom is considered a 'baller'".
Similar to saying "That jacket is so 'pimp'", wherein seeing a pimp with said jacket would not appear uncommon.
Then again, there is a lot of things you could be complaining about. To complain about not having something already from a game that is still unreleased and unplayed makes me miss the good old "book worms" tradicionalist complains.
Like I said from the time the game was announced, its going to be awesome. This is Visceral, creators of the awesomeness that is Dead Space. To doubt them, even though its loosely based on a poem, is quite mad, but I guess some have to, which is why most of what we've heard about DI is 'god of war clone'. Open your minds, people.
Many people doubted Bayonetta too, and ended up eating giant humble pie.
A mission creator sounds like an awesome idea, espcially if you can create levels and upload them to EA servers. Nice one, Visceral.
@tubatic see thats what i mean.. i see exactly what your saying. 'cause i know people say those things, but, even in slang, which is already incorrect, there's a right and a wrong. "that jacket is so pimped out." is a complete sentence or thought. if one says "thats so girl" it's wrong. one would have to say, "thats so girly". it just sounds really ignorant to use a noun as an adjective. even by ignorance's standards.
It's a joke. The use of "baller" as I used it is an inside joke. You either get it or you don't. I know the usage is incorrect, believe me. It's understandable that you'd be confused, because the source of the inside joke is pretty random. I should probably keep that stuff "inside" from now on though, as not to make anyone think I'm unintentionally using the slang wrong.
Mission Makers are amazing. TimeSplitters was the last game to feature a really solid one (unless you want to count the never used Far Cry Instincts one).
I really dont get how games like this and smackdown can give players tools for user created content, yet bethesda and valve skimpped on the tools for console versions of left 4 dead and fallout 3. Surely they can do it if they bothered?
that just pisses me off. I hate this too-soon DLCs, but one with a fun mode like that makes me hate it even more! I miss the time where a game would have a shit ton of content, lots and lots of modes and never ask more for it. like someone said, timesplitters, oh the good times. if timesplitters were made nowdays it would ship probably with story mode and basic multy with 20 characters, then dlcs would come to give coop, arcade league, map maker, challanges, packs of more 20 characters, and more 20, and more 20, and etc etc etc.
