Likely to celebrate yesterday's release of the "Trials of St. Lucia" add-on pack for Dante's Inferno, a slew of related Avatar items have hit the marketplace on Xbox LIVE.

Here's what's available:

Dante Cap (80 MS Points), Beatrice Costume (240 MS Points), Dante Male T-Shirt (80 MS Points), Phlegyas Pet (160 MS Points), Dante Female T-Shirt (80 MS Points), Dante Headwear (80 MS Points), Dante Costume (240 MS Points)

Typical stuff, really. Except for one item -- the Phlegyas Pet. In the game, Phlegyas is a large, molten golem type creature that Dante rides through hell. As a pet, Phlegyas is an adorable little cutie-pie that just kind of hangs out with your Avatar. I've never purchase any Avatar items -- I think the whole thing is a bit silly. But I won't lie, this little guy is tempting.

I'm a total whore for avatar items. Feeds into my years I spent on Gaia...the armor looks O.K, but that pet is badass. Once again though this is another situation where Msoft needs to recognize their damned user base and allow weapon props =/

My avatar is decked out in L4D2 gear I simply unlocked.

Im trying to get the Afterburner Climax helmet, its proving tricky to say the least.

@ Fear No Darkness - I got myself a lightsaber the night they first came out. It was new at the time and therefore kind of interesting.

In the long term though? You're pretty much right. They should let us make our own avatars. Maybe that would pull the Xbox community together. Right now the only thing we all have in common is that we're all giving our whore money to the same pimp.
