DanceDanceRevolution S Lite is free on iTunes App Store photo

Konami says that DanceDanceRevolution S Lite is the "first installment" of the popular dance game for Apple's touch platforms. It's available now, free at the iTunes App Store. And seeing as how this one is free, it's safe to say that the next ones won't be.

We downloaded this one and gave it a quick spin. As you'd guess, you tap the on-screen buttons to get your DDR on. The control is good, and this one stage is pretty fun. There's not much to do here with just this one song, though.

The whole thing looks and sounds great. There's even a sexy 3D dancing character! Again!

Konami says that the full version will come with "new songs and unique characters." We'll look forward to that.

Okay, so you're not really dancing, but this could be my dream long flight game anyway.

Flowers is a great song.

DDR without using your feet is incredibly stupid though.

it's basically stepmania on the iPhone...minus the awesome stepchart modding, addition of just about any song you want and...all the other good things.

Though i'm fine with DJ max portable for the hands. Plus Stepmania kinda kills anything DDR puts out now. Not my fault Konami wants to try and invite ex players to revert back to them when we were there.

Who's responsible for this? Who keeps putting DDR on non-foot systems?!

It really does not compare to TTR. I find that the controls are sticky, and everything else is just plain tacky.
