I was both excited and scared when I learned Harmonix would be swinging by the studio last week to show off some of Dance Central 3's new Story mode. Excited at the prospect of upholding my reign of internet humiliation, but scared by the thought of enduring a tacked-on story mode for a game that really doesn't need one to begin with. Whatever your opinion on the matter, make no mistake: Dance Central 3 is fun as hell.
After my demo, I grabbed the game's Lead Designer and Harmonix Project Director, Matt Boch, to chat about their motivation for adding a story mode, as well as the hot new tracks you can expect to hear, the fun (and weird!) mini-games that go along with them, and whether or not I should be a contestant on next season's Dancing With the Stars. (Spoiler alert: I totally should be!)
Looks pretty fun! I've always used Dance Central when I'm with friends and we all want to embarrass the hell out of each other. I'll be sure to pick this up.
all you fat suckas who can't dance can just keep on hatin' Kinect, meanwhile I'z gonna be dancing the Macarena, the Hustle, YMCA and all the great old people songs...
This will absolutely be the definitive party dance game. Mini games, improved jump-in multiplayer, party modes, create your own moves ability... And we can import every previous song!
Harmonix is the reason to own an Xbox, IMO. This series and Rock Band 3 (pro keys ftw!!) make the most universally enjoyable and appealing duo for any group of people, especially house guests.

Now, it seems as if its other major franchise, Dance Central, will be following suit "for ...

You had to have known that Psy's "Gangnam Style" was in the works for Dance Central 3. I'll be curious to see what society thinks of the song a decade from now, but for now, Harmonix is getting in on the sensation while the g...
