If you played Soulcalibur: Broken Destiny then you may already be familiar with this quirky jack-of-all-trades and self proclaimed master assassin. Luckily for those of you who missed out on the PSP-only offering, Namco will be offering Dampierre as a pre-order incentive for Soulcalibur V.

Unfortunately Namco is not saying, as of yet, where patrons should go to secure this extra character, if he is locked on the disk, or in fact completely downloadable. The folks at Namco did confirm that Dampierre will be available sometime after launch -- I can only assume for a price -- for those who miss out on the pre-order or perhaps pick up a used copy.

So what's the hold up? Go pre-order a copy of one of 2012's biggest fighting games now, at every major retailer, to guarantee your free Dampierre. Though I'm willing to bet that a certain one "stop" shop may be the place to go.

That being said, it should be pretty interesting to see him go toe-to-toe with the other recently announced master assassin, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, when the game hits January 31, 2012.

I was going to preorder (somewhere) anyway, so this is just mroe incentive to do so.

Even though I think the character is pretty stupid, I might start learning him just to beat up my friends with the dumbest character in the game.

This may in fact be the first fighting game I purchase day 1 since this guy is in here.

I've been a fan of the franchise, but I'm finding it very hard to give a shit about this or Ezio. Or Soulcalibur V itself.

YES!!! Dampierre was the best thing about Broken Destiny so to see him again makes me a happy camper.

I'm going to pass on the game overall now. Preorder characters in a fighting game is ridiculous.

This kind of makes up for Ezio for me.
Dampierre is awesome

I agree with Char.. course, I loved Soul Calibur, played professionally (and failed at it on the national level, state level had more success.. but there wasn't many good Indiana players, lol) Soul Calibur 2, Soul Calibur 3 and 4 are considered none-existent in my book. I just want them to fix my Ivy character... Ezio and Dampierre.. meh.

It doesn't matter, this is going to be one of my rare "Day One" games anyway. SC II is my favorite fighting game ever, and I had a lot of fun with SC IV, so this is a no-brainer for me.

Its not a preorder character, but if you could read, you'd know that. It's a DLC character that's free if you preorder.

Cool! I passed on the PSP version of SC but I like retarded mustache characters.

Not enough to make me pre order but Soul Calibur V is something I will buy if the online infrastructure is good this time around.

It's cool to see Dampierre finally making it into the canon! Although since he's a preorder character, I guess this means he won't be in the opening movie. :<

I told myself DOA5 would be the only fighting game I buy next year, but SCV keeps looking more and more tempting.

I know how you feel. DOA and SC are my two favorite fighting game franchises. I just hope they're released far enough apart that I can justify buying both at launch.

I apologize, it's so hard to read at work and sometimes I miss the details. So, you are telling me that this character will be available for everyone as DLC on launch day?

"The folks at Namco did confirm that Dampierre will be available sometime after launch"

From what I've read, that would make it a preorder character first and then a DLC character later on seeing as how you can't DLC it in the beginning unless you preorder it. However, this is all semantics and overall, character DLC is stupid no matter how you look at it

No worries, man. I apologize if I came off as abrasive; some people are just so eager to hate on everything.

Naw, I don't think he's going to be available day 1. I think it's going to be something similar to the MvC3 Collector's Edition Jill and Shuma thing, where when it DOES become available, people that preordered will get him for free.

Awesome! I was hoping Dampierre would make the jump to consoles; He's my 2nd main in soul cali!

He'll have to be on the disk in order to play online with him. Otherwise there would be a day one patch to allow players who didn't preorder to play against those who did.

Or they could have a popup when the other player picks him:
"DeathRoar666 has picked Dampierre. Please pay 600 Microsoft points to download him now."

Dampierre is pretty fun, and his finishing special was pretty funny in Broken Destiny. I must also say that I really enjoyed Kratos in that game too. He fit in pretty well. Far better than Hilda does..

And here I hoped Ezio would have made Danpierre obsolete, being assassin and all that fancy stuff. Oh well, I suppose even SC needs 'serious' joke character. I've never really considered any character in SC universe a joke character, although that owl guy from 3 was pretty close.
