Cyto's Puzzle Adventure exocytosed onto Steam Greenlight

10:00 PM on 09.18.2013

I have somewhat of a soft spot for games that take place in environments typically visible only under a microscope. That's probably what drew me to watch the trailer for Cyto's Puzzle Adventure, which originated on iOS but is now up on Steam Greenlight.

Cyto is apparently some sort of microorganism who travels through cytoplasmic environments via a stretchy vesicle that allows for attaching, detaching, and slingshot-style launching. I'm not sure exactly what Cyto canonically identifies as, but it reminds me most of a rotavirus, which causes severe diarrhea. "Breathtaking emotions" indeed.

Open world platformer/space shooter A.N.N.E is a retro buffet

Really, why even play clearly deficient retro games? I mean, where are the shmup segments in Metroid? Where are the open world segments in Contra? Where are the line segments in a bisected triangle? A.N.N.E. is one part platformer, one part shmup, one part RPG. And this year at PAX A.N.N.E. has all its systems in play. Maybe we'll all get to play it this year.more

Boy, The Hong Kong Massacre sure looks like Hotline Miami

Hotline Miami by way of Stranglehold or any other John Woo flick, at least. Which is appropriate for the setting. Though I'm also reminded of Michael Mann's Miami Vice movie for some reason. I guess it can't exactly be Hotli...more
