CVG says Mario, Metroid and Zelda DS will be delayed until next Xmas photo

Is this a shock, honestly? Nintendo's sorta like Blizzard in the way they develop and release their top games. They take their time and release the little bastards when they're ready. So, it shouldn't be a surprise to any knowledgeable gamer that the three most anticipated games in Nintendo's portfolio next year may get hit with the delay stick. It's all rumor at this point, but CVG tends to tread on the legit side, so you may want to put a tad bit of stock into what they have to say:

Reliable sources close to Nintendo have told CVG that Super Mario Galaxy and Metroid Prime 3: Corruption on Wii, and Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass on DS will not see light of day until Christmas 2007, which could mean anything from October to December.

CVG called Nintendo about the delays, and was told us: "We never confirmed a date for Super Mario Galaxy, but I can confirm that Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3 and Phantom Hourglass will all release in 2007. We can't confirm an exact release date for any of these titles at this time."

Ouch. Xmas 07 for two of the best reasons to own a Wii? *sniff sniff* Do I smell a GameCube in here? Third-party devs better step up and fill those holes.

Sux? Yes. Surprising? Hrmmmm, no so much. Metroid maybe.

Being built with an established engine would seem to make a release earlier this year within reach.

I'm calling "legit" on this one.

Also, I think it was CVG that gave a tentative release list for Wii Q107 and it has excite truck on it. Give me another excite truck with online and more features, and I'm on it.

I don't like rumors from Joe'sGamingSiteRox.com. Like I said, CVG tends to be pretty legit with their sources.

The Nintendo delays never bother me because the games are almost always awesome.

Yeah Cruds,

And besides, "rumors" that nintendo is delaying a major franchise are like "rumors" that the sun will rise tomorrow.

Well your right if its true, there will be a big gap between the first party releases. Not that I'm a real big Metroid but who know I might actually enjoy it with the Wii-remote.

I'm not buying it. Another ten-eleven months without an A-list Nintendo studio release? They're not that dumb. There'll be something.

I doubt its all being held to the back end of the year and isn't SSBM coming out in the first half of 07? I'd guess metriod will come middle of next year and mario at the end. With a nice layer of unique titles in between. Lets not forget the some DS titles (Trauma Centre) are quite suitable for upgrading to the big screen.

And that Paper Mario game that was made for the Cube does that have a release date?

If this is true, Corruption better have multiplayer of the online variety. Looks like I have nothing to buy for my Wii til next fall in terms of single-player value (here's hoping Super Paper Mario comes soon). Wario-ware and SSBBrawl just aren't going to keep a lonesome gamer like myself occupied.

Super Paper Mario is going to be a wii title now, cruds. hopefully it will fill the gap. it also looks awesome.

PS. The DS didn't have any A list ninty titles for almost a year, and now look. also, there are waaaay more 3rd parties signed on for the wii than the ds or gc, and they will start releasing their AAA VC titles soon enough.

there better be some fucking chrono trigger is all I'm saying

Hey, I mentioned ExciteTRUCK. If it adds some more features (4 player local, online multi, etc) it will be AAA for sure.

If this is true then it would appear that sony has taken over Nintendo.

I don't think it's possible for Nintendo to screw up this bad, I call bull.

I highly doubt this is true. It's best not to trust these crappy rumors, as that's just what they are, crappy rumors which don't turn true 75% of the time. Super Mario Galaxy I can see for Christmas, Zelda maybe, but Metroid? No way in hell. #1 Nintendo isn't dumb enough to put those 2 franchises head to head against one another and end up cannibalizing sales and #2 Nintendo said that Metroid is definitely coming before Galaxy, and haven't they mentioned Spring '07?

Well, if this IS true, than I'd be a sad panda, however there would probably be enough first party games to keep me afloat for a while. I'm really not counting on third-parties for the Wii so far, as most third party games look either horrible or like Ubiport. Fire Emblem, Bwii, Disaster, Project HAMMER, Super Paper Mario and Warioware among others should make me happy for a bit.

Hey I'm not surprised...Since the N64 day's I've only purchased Nintendo consoles for the big franchise games, the moment Reggie said in a press release that the Nintendo Wii would keep a steady stream of stellar titles going throughout 2007 and went on to mention Pokemon Revolution and another Mario party game...I was unimpressed to say the least. I really don't want the Nintendo Wii to go the way of Gamecube. But who knows maybe because of the new controls that the Wii brings to the table the Ultra casual gamer will stay on the Nintendo ship, thus saving it from 3rd place in the console wars and discontinued support later in the consoles life due to lack of third party games. For now, I'm gonna wait to get a Wii until the aforementioned franchise titles appear for the system. Since I still have my Gamecube I will be picking up Zelda for that instead of the Wii, because I'm not a fan of any of the other games out right now for the Wii.

On the one hand, boo I want the games now. On the other, I'm happier to wait than to get half-baked shit like red steel. On the more important hand though, boo I want my fuxxing gamez!
I'll leave idle speculation to others. They'll be out when they're out, complaining about it won't help matters at all.

C'mon, it's Nintendo...they have always delayed their first party titles. Hmmm, when has one of their first party titles NOT been delayed?

This is why, for me, the Wii is the secondary console. If the Wii is your only console, well, at least you have the weather channel and great vc releases like tennis and ice hockey to tide you over 'till next Xmas.

I say Duke Nukem Forever comes out before mario galaxy - 30 bucks!

Nintendo did announce more first party titles than these. I fully expect Metroid to come out MUCH sooner than that. I want to know when Project H.A.M.M.E.R. and Disaster are coming out.

By the way, Kirby Super Star >>>>>> Xbox 360.... WHEN it comes out.

This is just fine to me. To me, delays just tell me that Nintendo's putting effort into the games. But I remember when Batman: Dark Tomorrow kept having its delays. God, that game sucked. But I was excited for it.

Or, in an inverse to Angry Irish's optimistic reasoning, Nintendo is just delaying the titles so they don't blow their load all at once. In reality, Metroid is completely finished, and sitting under the passenger seat of Miyamoto's Corolla.
