Cute cat and ugly pig star in Monster Hunter G Wii TV ad photo

You may not know piggy Pugi or kitten Airuu, but those watching Japanese television do. They're the newest spokespersons spokesanimals for the Wii version of Monster Hunter G, a translation of a PS2 game. This duo has been tearing up the Japanese airwaves with their ugly dialect and cute face respectively, in promotion for Capcom's game, which was released there this month. It seems to take a cue from another animal commercial series in Japan, where mobile phone company SoftBank's face is a white dog named Otousan.

After the jump you'll find the three commercials that are currently airing, all starring the duo, with the cat wearing an acorn and the pig in stripes. Brilliance. My favorite is the third clip in the first video, where the two actually take paw to the Wii Classic controller. It seems that Airuu sucks at the game, but Pugi is pretty skilled. Watching the cat play is very similar to watching me play.

Gah! I'm so torn between waiting for this and getting the latest PSP version. Doesn't the newest one have online? If so, I think I'd prefer that. There's just so much to do, I'd rather carry it with me.

why is it wearing an acorn? I don't get it. It's stupid. An Acorn? Why not a cat outfit? Or a hat. But it's a fucking acorn just sitting on the cat. No sense at all.

He's probably wearing an acorn because he's supposed to be a Felyne warrior? Don't they use acorn hammers and cloithing?

MUST...RESIST...URGE...TO...IMPORT...

Man, Japan gets all teh great commercials...I doubt the adverts here in the states(if they make any at all) will be even half as awesome.

I may just have to "borrow-back" my Wii from parents when this one comes out.

480+ hours of Monster Hunter on PSP and I still can't get enough.
