Cut God of War III ending could come back as free DLC photo

God of War III is a massive game. It's also really good and probably going to leave you wanting more. More may be coming, and in the form of something from the end of the game that the developers had to cut because it was just getting way too big (that's what she said). Speaking with Kotaku, game director Stig Asmussen discussed (in a totally spoiler-free way) some of the things that hit the cutting room floor.

"There was a pretty large thing that we chopped from the ending that I had regrets about, but then something we added at the end that helps make up for it a little bit, and helps make it more personal," Asmussen lamented. "We had Titan encounters in the game, we had a pretty big one planned for the end and we got pretty far with it it, but it was just one of those deals where we just had so much."

Thanks to this, and the fact that it was really hard to let go of the titan thanks to all the work they had to put in each one, we might see the cut section as some free DLC.

"As far as DLC goes, it might be something we might think about getting out there someday," Asmussen said. "The pieces are in place, the idea is written. If it's something we put out there it would be something that would be free."

Great, now I'm excited for unconfirmed DLC on a game that isn't even out yet. This better not end in disappointment.

If Cut God of War III Ending Returns as DLC, It 'Would be Free' [Kotaku]

Nice to see the word "free" in regard to DLC these days, especially when talking about original campaign content... *coughUBISOFTcough* ...I've grown so used to the DLC rape and the consumers that ask for it that I can't say I honestly expect to get anything even remotely resembling a fair deal anymore.

This is good. That's cool of them, rewarding the fans for supporting their game instead of gouging and marking up items in order to make more money.

Also, how long until someone says "THIS IS HOW YOU DO DLC ACTIVISION"? I'm gonna say 10 minutes from this comment.

BUY this game! It may be a hack and slash, but this is one of the BEST games ever made *I'm going with reviewers for now since the game doesn't officially come out till Tuesday*

Hmm, this is interesting. I have no idea what the ending is like, but this is interesting. And despite not having an avatar kylamity won this post.

Power to them if it's free, but I'll be very sad if I can't ever see the true ending. It's kind of a tease.

Well I hope there is an actual ending that closes the trilogy and that the DLC isn't actually necessary. It's great that it could (should) be free but now they have got me thinking if I should wait for a game of the year edition.

I hope they do release something because the ending was not as great as I expected, felt kinda rushed.

@KalosBlue: Buy the game! We need to support developers that make solid games.

@KalosBlue: If you play on the hardest difficulty it will likely take you much longer than 10 hours. Besides this there are combat challenges which are a lot of fun. There's also lots of extras and I expect it's no different this time. Buy this shit.

They had a Titan encounter planned for the ending, but cut it?

Sounds like it could be Gaia as the final boss. Just a guess.

Fantastic! this is the Valve school of thought! Free DLC isn't a loss, it supports continued use and respect of your game and generates more sales of the next game you put out because people love you for more than just game quality.

Plus, it's a given that GoW3 will sell like a bajillion copies, so they don't need to use DLC as a way to make up for lost sales...
