Cursed Mountain cover art surfaces, lookin' creepy photo

Of you follow survival horror news, you're probably already aware of the bold statement I made about Cursed Mountain having the potential to become the best survival horror title of the year. I recently heard from Deep Silver in regards to the final box art for the title, and was rather surprised to see that instead of the demonic face as seen on the box on the official website, instead the art has been changed to protagonist Eric Simmons clawing his way away from a frightning-looking apparition (the full size art is in the gallery).

I have to admit I find this art a little less creepy than the face that graced the original announcement, but I still have confidence that this game could really deliver what I'm looking for. It's slated for an August 25th release date and is exclusive to the Nintendo Wii. Is it still on your do want list?

The art is nice, but the text... a little too red, I would say. But whatever, I'm looking foward to this game!

I formally request a Harry Mason style meme on this by the Dtoid staff pronto.

Oh man, I'm so ready for this game right now... I've been on a huge horror high recently. As for the cover, I agree about the text. Kinda makes it look cheap.

looks a far cry from the usual kiddie/family oriented covers of Wii games which is good IMHO, and yes, it's still in my 'do want' list, at least until reviews say otherwise

The text needs to be fixed. Looks like it was added on with paint.

I think this looks better as boxart than the face. Although somehow, the actual boxart looks like a generic budget game. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about it. Maybe they should play with the font some more.

Awesome Colette you're like a one stop for survival horror news on the Wii.I have a lot of 'do want' coming up this, Darkside Chronicles, Ju-On, Silent Hill, Deadspace Extraction. However, Cursed Mountain has been at the top of my list of titles to follow for the last year and it keeps looking better.

I'm digging this box art.

The only thing missing: The waggle QTE cue in the middle.

"Waggle to not get ghost raped"

For some reason the title and genre makes me think of "At the Mountain of Madness" by HP Lovecraft. If this game is at all Lovecraftian, I will certainly be taking a look.

I was intrigued. Then, I saw it was for the Wii. Now, I am intrigued with a side of low expectations.

I hope the game is able to deliver what's expected - fine horror, atmosphere, story and good controls.

Although the font sucks, something about this box art makes me very uncomfortable. The creepy thing doesn't seem affected by the cold at all, and our clutching protagonist (I declare 2009 the year of claw-hand survival horror protagonist) seems like he's stuck in one of those nightmares where someone's chasing you but you can't move.

Intrigued. Need to see more though.
