Crystal Conquest puts that old web browser to work

8:00 AM on 04.08.2012

Now that I sit behind of a computer most of my work day, browser based games have become a necessary element to my ultimate goal: putting things off as long as I can. Square Enix has released a trailer for their upcoming RPG style slash-em-up, Crystal Conquest. I can feel my productive time slipping through my fingertips.

The upcoming browser based title looks to incorporate some interesting multiplayer action, complete with Square Enix style spell casting, and lots of big swords. There's still no word on a release date or whether the game can be played on this side of the Pacific. Unfortunately, they didn't show the reported 20 vs 20 action in the trailer. I can only image the crowded blood bath it could be. With all the large monsters and pretty effects, I hope my poor Chrome browser will be up to the task. Budget meetings will never be the same.

This week's addictive browser game that I can't seem to quit is 2048, a sliding tiles game where you try to match numbers to multiply their value. The ultimate goal is to get a tile that's worth 2048 without having completely...more

Ex-Blizzard, Insomniac dev working on tactical, turn-based Duelyst

This game looks amazing. Duelyst, which I'm too in awe of to poke at the "y" in the title, started as a tabletop game that the team at newly formed Counterplay Games decided to turn into a videogame. That vision has come stu...more
