Everyone has seen plenty of videos of the single player campaign of Crysis by now. So I'm going to start things off with the multiplayer aspect of the game instead. Also, because I'm slightly narcissistic, I wanted to start off with the videos that showed me getting owned. Twice (watch for the name CTZ). The Gametrailers guy was destroying everyone, especially in the Instant Action multiplayer match.
The first two multiplayer videos are from the Power Struggle portion of Crysis. The next two videos are from the Instant Action multiplayre match. Then the last three videos are from the single player portion that we got to play on the USS Hornet.
Power Struggle part two:Instant Action part one: Instant Action part two:Single player campaign: Driving the boat:Single player campaign: Dicking around:Single player campaign: Rampage: One thing I want to add and that I completely forgot to mention on my hands-on report was that the water physics is easily the best I've ever seen. It looks realistic as hell and swimming in it is damn near realistic too. Again, little stuff like that impress the hell out of me.
What do you all think about how the multiplayer is looking?
lubczyk , its not really fair to compare this with FarCry....Crytek stated that the multiplayer was tacked on as almost an afterthought plus there was some fundamental issue with the network code.
The MP for Crysis is quite involved as it uses some ideas from RTS games along with tons of customization and plenty of vehicles. ATM its still quite rough but theres a ton of potential that should come out once its been polished.
Ditto. Visually it looks really impressive, but the gameplay looks rather run of the mill. I think UT3 will have better, long-term multiplayer. Going to have to wait until we get closer to release and more substantive reviews start coming out before I decide to get this or not.
If I can play it on my PC I will. It looks like just a regular shooter in multiplayer, but a well done shooter nonetheless and with some nice touches. I like the idea of being able to switch between your powers. Single player, as expected, looks lush.
We'll see how it all plays I guess but multiplayer looks like a lot of gun-fun!
I'm just not at all impressed with the competitive aspects of the weapons. From the multiplayer videos it seems far more efficient to spam your enemy to death (due to the low recoil and high firerate) than it is to sight and aim shots. I'm also not at all a fan of the nano-suit, making oneself incredibly fast only leads to frantic spray and pray in my experience. The engine is fantastic but I just don't think I'm going to enjoy the gameplay.
You would think Crytek with their amazing new engine would include gibs in the game. Guys just falling over when you shoot them is no fun. Also wouldn't be awesome to tear enemies apart with yor nano-suit? It's going to be another boring FPS.
