PS3 fan? Feeling jilted over your lack of a Crysis 2 demo? Crytek wants you to know that it's nothing personal, and that you can "probably hope" for a demo before the game's release next month.
"We want as many people to play Crysis 2 as possible,” said executive producer Nathan Camarillo. “I can’t say anything too specific ... we haven’t announced [the demo] yet."
Camarillo also promised that the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions of the game would be identical, because insecure gamers need their little minds at ease: "People can try to find them (disparities), but they won't find anything. They both run great, they both play great whether you're playing single-player or multiplayer -- they're identical offerings. The quality is outstanding on both of them; there's really no difference."
On the subject of downloadable content, he practically confirmed that Crytek would release some, but wouldn't give any firm details: "You can imagine we will. It's a big game and there's a lot of fun to be had, so you can imagine we're doing some [DLC], but I can't say specifically what it is yet."
As we gear up for the launch of Crysis 2, I must say I'm getting rather eager to check it out, despite my lukewarm reaction to the multiplayer demo. Here's hoping that the single-player is as excellent as it should be.
Exclusive: Crysis 2 producer talks PS3 demo, downloadable content [PSU]
@Neroisonfire Funny, I thought the same thing playing the 360 demo, (I've got PS3 & 360) Playing the game I keept thinking "Man this really reminds me of something" I couldn't place it at first but then it hit me, Haze! Makes sense, the MP is being developed by Crytex UK - Formerly Free Radical, the makers of Haze.
I'm not two worried though. Haze was bad yes, but not because it was broken like some games, but because it was completely generic - nothing special. Haze played well but was really forgettable. That's my Impressions of the Crysis 2 MP Demo, It plays well and looks nice but it feels generic and uninspired - A Sci-Fi Call of Duty.
The reason I'm so excited for Crysis 2 is the Single player, being done by the original German Crytek team that did Far Cry and Crysis, both amazing games.
Something tells me that Richard Leadbetter from Digital Foundry is going to prove this bloke wrong.
"insecure gamers need their little minds at ease"? Despite game review sites/mags efforts to only write one review for multi-platform games, the differences between each version of a game has always been a relevant issue. Black Ops has only reminded people of its importance, but you can go back in time to find plenty of games that are more flawed or offer less on one system compared to another. Sometimes its minor, but sometimes the differences are major enough to begin to impact gameplay.
I would imagine he is prepping a 3 page article on it right now. Probably along the lines of 'Yes they are identical but the 360 version is some how better'
And he'll completely ignore the pc version as usual
You know the 360 version will run better, they nearly always do. It's good though, it gives us PS3 only owners chance to bitch & moan about 3rd party developers not knowing how to program for the PS3, & to bring up Uncharted 2 (it is awesome, no really), oh & that shooty game with the man, & the guns, & the bay guys - there's another of them coming out ya know!
If Crytek do this, then they'll be the first ever 3rd party developers to manage it. Good luck to them. Either way, I'm sure it won't be as good as Far Cry. The 1st one, not that debacle they called Far Cry 2.
*goes back to playing KZ3 demo*
A multiplayer-only demo weighing in at almost 2GB, containing a map you couldn't play, expiring after a couple of weeks, featuring awkward gameplay. Ouch.
I won't be buying Crysis for the MP.
Had me laughing for a good while.
