Crysis 2 gets March 22 release date photo

Crytek has confirmed that its upcoming first-person shooter, Crysis 2, will ship to North American retailer shelves on March 22, 2011. Europeans hang tight -- you’ll have to wait three days for the game, which will be available on March 25.

Crysis 2 was originally set to ship to stores this fall, but pushed out of the holiday season and into 2011 earlier this month. You’ll be able to play it in 3D, Crytek thinks it’s the best looking game ever, and it’s going to be really, really emotional.

It’s out for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, as well as PC, so console gamers won’t have to miss out on enhanced battle suit action.

"emotional" haha, oh no! my graphics card is melting out the back of my game console! That kind of emotion?

@ munkee,

They've been pretty clearly so far that this game has lower system requirements then the previous game.

It certainly isn't a Halo or Call of Duty killer. #notexcited.

Maybe this time they'll make the gameplay as good as the graphics.

Here's hoping.

It'll be cool to finally get to check out a Crysis game, after hearing about them so much over the last few years.

I just want to see if the story is as good as the writer has led us to believe.

@ runtheplacered: Yes, but if you want the best looking experience, odds are you'll need an extremely high end system.

I've got an Intel i7 and Radeon 5770 graphics card with 8GB of DDR3 RAM, and Crysis Warhead tells me that I should play on "Gamer" settings instead of "Enthusiast".

@EternalDeath: you can never go by what a game tells you is your best setting.

@ EternalDeathSlayer: There is no way you can't run the game on Enthusiast settings unless you're on Windows XP. My 3 and a half year old system with a Intel Core 2 Duo E6700, NVidia 8800 GTX, and 4 GBs of DDR3 Ram can run the game at ~30 FPS with all but some settings at Enthusiast. No reason you can't. You can also use this mod(http://www.crymod.com/filebase.php?fileid=491) to boost your performance.

To get back on topic, I'm really looking forward to the sequel. I enjoyed Crysis and Crysis Warhead a ton and I think the gameplay gets bad wrap for no reason.

Cant wait! Sad that they moved it, I was excited for it a LOT, and still am, and I also can't wait to use CE3.
Regardless I'm glad they're taking it's time. I loved Crysis and Warhead and I love Sandbox 2, so I can't wait for this.

I loved the first two Crysis games, this game seems to take those ideas in a cool new direction. I hope the multiplayer is deeper than it was in the first game. I loved the original MP, but there has been games like MW2 that just have so much going on, I'd hope to see it to have some significant additions.
